  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I agree. Have you heard the saying "it's the small foxes that spoil the vine?" What I discovered was it was the small things that you normally wouldn't think about that was causing the problem, it wasn't the three meals a day.

Yes, one rotten apple spoils the barrel. A little poison spoils the whole pie. A little yeast works into the lump.

Weight and gluttony is something I have never heard a church teach on. Bob Yandian and Kenneth Copeland have touched on the subject, but there has never been any serious teaching that I know of. Joyce Meyer has a book out, but I haven't read it so I can't say anything about it.

Also, I have never heard anyone say that God is dealing with them about their weight. You may hear them say that He told them to do such and such with their diet to help their health, but never about their weight, or at least I haven't heard it. It's almost like "if your heart doesn't condemn you...". Well, it's my clothes that condemn me!

To eat or not to eat doesn't effect a persons liberty in Christ. A person is also set at liberty to lose weight. Not for the reason that they have a consciousness about what they eat. But having a desire to lose weight. I never once felt convicted by the Holy Spirit about what I ate. It had to do with what I desired. If at anytime I felt that I somehow was earning extra brownie points with God by getting some weight off, or eating only certain foods, I wouldn't have even considered it. What I am thankful for, is God giving me the wisdom to attain the goal. Nothing wrong in setting a goal that I knew was going to help me feel a whole lot better physically, and having God care enough about my desire, to see that I attain it.

Being overweight doesn't fit in, that is into my pants.

Being fat is a result of gluttony (the sin) and the medical problems associated with being fat certainly makes clear why gluttony is forbidden.

I don't know if i would agree with that statement completely. There are people that can eat all day every day, and thanks to their high metabolism still stay skinny. But a person, could have desert once a week, eat three health meals, and still get big. I can see where you are coming from, but I think it is bigger then just that

So, let's say you are a WOF believer and you are 60 pounds overweight...... because you eat more than you move ....

Do you feel bad about it?

Do you feel you let God down?

Do you do what you do in other areas of your life when you are out of His will - repent, get back on His way, stand in faith and do what He says to do?

Or, is it something that isn't that big of a deal to you since it isn't adultery, drunkeness, murder, etc?

It seems many just accept it and live with it, almost as if it isn't a big deal.

I think many people don't even look at it like a religous issue any more. I do think there are bigger things to worry about. But I don't know that if being overweight definently means you are a glutton

I have to say that no, at the time I didn't feel like I had let God down, but that I was letting myself down. But I never felt that God was upset with me, because I was doing it in ignorance. You know, when your walking in the Spirit, it's pretty easy to ignore things that might be happening to your own body. And that is what I was doing.
