I'm a student at the University of Miami and Campus Crusade for Christ at my campus is having an outreach event tonight at 7:30 EST. Darrell Scott, the father of Rachel Scott, one of the students killed at Columbine High, will be speaking about her life and hope in Christ. Please pray that many students will come and that God will speak through Darrell, plant seeds, and draw students closer to Him. Also, pray that I can talk to my friends after the event. Thanx! CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Thank you to everyone for your prayers! The Darrell Scott event was an enormous success - several hundred people came. Although the friends I thought would come could not come, I recognized several of my non-Christian friends in the audience and I'm planning to talk to them about the event later. The message was very moving and encouraging and delivered in a non-offensive way that was designed to remove defenses and keep the audience comfortable. Many people in the audience were crying during the presentation, and I peeked at the comment cards and saw many positive responses. Thank y'all once again!
