  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Yes, it is our "strong points" that seem to give us the most trouble.
In Numbers 12, we are told that Moses was not only a meek man but was in fact the meekest man on earth.

He was a Meek man which does not at all mean Weak. In fact it required a measure of sustained strength.

But he lost his temper and when God told him to speak to a rock, in a fit of rage he beat the rock. He was angry. Anger is the antithesis of meekness.
The consequence of his anger kept him out of the promised land.

Meekness was his Strong point. Moses failed God in his meekness.

May God help us to control our anger and to exhibit a spirit of meekness but NEVER weakness.

Something to go along with that. Exodus 4:1-5

The staff was Moses "strong point" you could say. That was how he lived, without it, his flock would suffer. But God said to throw it down. Then He told him to pick it up. From then on, it was the staff of God, not Moses' staff. I think that this is a key concept to learn when trying to overcome problems due to our strong points. When we throw them down before God, allow Him to change them to suit His purposes, then pick them back up and use them for God, that is how we overcome some of that trouble. The thought just clicked so I thought I'd add on to the post above. :) Have a great day!

You are EXACTLY right! It is in at leat one sense, the Ultimate in strength.

Good analogy too. I am from Texas also, so I understand completely.

Meekness is to submit with humbleness before God, to trusts His purposes even in the face of personal insult and damage; we turn into “calmness” before Him. Meekness is a good quality enjoined upon believers. Meekness has a power to help us to get revelation knowledge from God – the open word.
James 1:21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

Meekness is a fruit of the spirit and need to be cultivate.
Very good posting Gerry
