Psalms 74:1 God, why have You cast us off? And is it forever?

Psalm 74:2 Remember Your people – redeemed to be your own tribe. Remember Mt Zion, which You made to be Your dwelling place.

Psalm 74:3 Restore now what damage Your enemies have done to Your sanctuary.

Psalm 74:4 Your enemies shouted for victory in Your Temple.

Psalm 74:5-7 They brought it crashing down and polluted the House of your Name.

Psalm 74:8 They said to themselves; let us oppress them and they burnt every Holy place throughout the Land.

Psalm 74:9 We cannot see any sign for us, we have no prophet now.

Psalm 74:10 How long, O God will the foe utter his taunts?

Psalm 74:11 Why do you hold back Your hand?

Psalm 74:12-17 God – our King from old, whose saving acts preserve the earth. You fix the boundaries of the land and sea.

Psalm 74:18 Remember, Lord the taunts of the enemy, the scorn that a barbarous nation pours on Your Name.

Psalm 74:19 Lord, save the soul that confesses You. Do not forget the suffering of Your servants.

Psalm 74:20 The Land is a place of violence .

Psalm 74:21 Let not the oppressed be shamed, may the downtrodden praise Your name.

Psalm 74:22-23 Rise up, God, defend Your cause. Ignore no longer the ever rising clamour of those who defy You.

Psalm 85:1 You showed favour to Your Land and restored the fortunes of Jacob.

Psalm 85:2 You have forgiven the guilt of Your people and put their sins away.

Psalm 85:3 You have withdrawn all Your wrath and turned from Your hot anger.


Psalm 85:4 God our saviour, restore us – put away Your displeasure toward us.

Psalm 85:5 Will You be angry with us forever? Must Your wrath last for all generations

Psalm 85:6 Will You not give us new life, so that Your people may rejoice in You.

Psalm 85:7 Lord, show us your love and grant us your deliverance.

Psalm 85:8 I will listen to the Lord, He promises peace to His people and His loyal servants. Let them not go back to their foolish ways.

Psalm 85:9 Deliverance is near to those who worship Him, so that glory may dwell in the Land.

Psalm 85:10 Love, faithfulness have come together; justice and peace have embraced.

Psalm 85:11 Faithfulness appears from earth and justice looks down from heaven.

Psalm 85:12 The Lord will grant prosperity and our land will yield it’s harvests.

Psalm 85:13 Justice goes before Him and peace on the path He treads.

Psalm 85 – from an end times perspective:
Psalm 85 is a beautiful example of how God wants us to be. The first 3 verses are in the past tense because God wants us to trust Him and totally believe what it is that He will do for us- as though it was already done.

V 1 the Land of Greater Israel, deserted and damaged after the terrible Day of the Lord’s vengeance and wrath, is restored and made fruitful. His Christian peoples, divided into 12 tribes: the Israelites of God, are gathered, judged and settled in it with prosperity and peace. Jeremiah 12:14-17, Ezekiel 34:11-16

V 2 The sins of those who truly believe in Him and follow His Laws, will be forgiven.

V 3 After the judgement, the Lords wrath is over and He blesses His righteous people.


V 4-7 A prayer of the exiles of Israel, for their restoration and redemption.

V 8 The Lord promises peace for His people, those who believe in Him and keep His laws

V 9 Those who do worship the Lord, can expect separation from this idol worshipping and atheistic world, so that they can be an example of right living to the nations.

V 10-11 Love, faithfulness, justice and peace will be the hallmarks of this nation, Israel.

V 12 Although the Jews have achieved agricultural wonders, there is still large areas of desert and barren hills, especially where the Land is occupied by ‘evil neighbours ‘.

V 13 The Lord will bring justice and peace to His people, in the Promised Land.
Trusting in God, that He will fulfil His promises- Psalms 62:8, Psalms 115:9, Proverbs 3:5-6 Isaiah 8:17, Isaiah 50:10-11, Nahum 1:7, Romans 15:13.
