• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I am scared what if isalm is the religion. I can maybe see why God would get mad if Jesus was considered equal. A episcoplaian priest told me that some things in the bible can't be taken literally and that maybe when they say son of God that just means they were very close.

It sounds like this Episcopal priest does not believe in the Divinity of Christ. As a Catholic, I do believe in the Divinity of Christ. I studied Islam, and it has a certain attraction, but I found some of its teachings to be incorrect. For, example, Muslims believe that the crucifixion is illusory and that Christ only appeared to be crucified. That doesn't make sense. Why don't you find a Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, or Lutheran Church to go to? If you go to a.Catholic Church, it's just in time to get into an RCIA program.

From what I have seen, most people convert to Christianity. From all kinds of religions. Devout Muslims have converted to Christianity in huge numbers. I have never heard of a devout Christian converting to any other religion. That tells me there is a power in the gospel that is in no other religion.

In comparing most of the main religions, they all have a common theme "man trying to do good, in order to please their god". In christianity, that common them has been solved, "God came to man, in order for man to be accepted".

You must look at the teachings of what that religion holds, to see if it is legit. If i were you, I would look up stuff on christian apologetics, this may help.

And, If Jesus was just "close" to God, then He wouldnt be perfect. In order for someone to be close to God, he must be sinless like God. But since God is the only Perfection, anyone claiming those attributes would have to be God Himself, ie Jesus Christ.

Hope this helps

Well, islam came many years AFTER Christianity for one thing. To me, it is just a manifestation of what St. Paul was referring to when he said to the effect in Galations that if he or an "angel of light" comes preaching any other gospel, let him be accursed! I think islam is just another example of "any of other gospel." There is much more evidence, to confidently base your faith in Christianity than any of the other world religions.
Also, by the way, my husband was 3rd generation Episcopalian and I was confirmed in the Episcopal church after we married. We left the Episcopal church after a few years because the teaching is very liberal (and very wrong in our opinion) in many or most Episcopal parishes.
