  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Those who pre-ordered direct from Conciliar Press via their promotion last year should get them before Amazon has them in stock - i.e., February versus March.

I looked at it tonight. It seemed okay. Some of the Psalms they changed from the previous OSB NT+Psalms - e.g., Psalm 2:12 and Psalm 39:7 (Hebrew 40:6). I noticed that they did NOT change Psalm 22 (23) to conform to the LXX, though - it still says, "The Lord is my shepherd" instead of "The Lord shepherds me" and it says "my cup runneth over" instead of "Your cup intoxicates me like the most excellent [ ]" I don't know if that was an oversight, a deliberate decision (because of familiarity), or if the LXX text they used for this matches the Hebrew in this instance. I was a bit disappointed to see this. Also, the notes don't seem nearly as extensive as I'd hoped, and they only very rarely give a Father's name beside a comment, from what I saw.

This is really exciting. Please let us know of any other things that you find interesting as the majority of us haven't got our eager little hands on it yet!!

Does anybody know any definite dates regarding the release of the bonded leather OSB??

There seems to be a lot of concern - both here and on my own part! - about whether or not we'll see these released imminently or four months from now!

I'll be honest: while I'd love to own the bonded leather, since I'll probably make the OSB my primary Bible, unless I find some reason not to, I equally wouldn't mind just going ahead and picking up the hardcover. It's the contents that matter anyway!

(But I've always been a sucker for aesthetics!)

Our priest said that our bulk purchase of hardback Orthodox Study Bibles have arrived at church. Maybe the leather bound ones will arrive shortly. :)

I Pre-ordered two hard bound copies and one Leather Bound from Amazon about a month ago.

The Hard bounds are a gift for Father and a friend. I hope my Leather bound comes soon too. I ordered Audio Books from Amazon late January at the same time, and they arrived here already. So I hope I don't have to wait too long.:(

Amazon says the bonded leather version will be out June 18th, but then again it still has the OSB hardcover version up for pre-order and even on Amazon it says it's release date is Feb. 12. Weird. I'd really love to get some information on the bonded leather version though, because if it is due out in June then I can wait to pre-order but I don't want it to suddenly come out and I'll have to pay the full price.

I don't know about Amazon, but for those people who placed their pre-order through Conciliar Press, I spoke with them today and they said that the leather bound editions will be shipped out from their warehouse in a couple weeks. I'm not sure how generalized this answer was, but at least it's a frame of reference!!
