Osama aparantly is never going to be captured.

Does anyone honestly think George will do anything about Osama Bin Laden?
It's hard to get past his 'flip flopping' on the OBL issue.

First he says he's a wanted man "Dead or Alive" Sept-01

Then "I am truly not concerned about him" March-02

Now, hes saying "Americans will not be influenced or intimidated by an enemy of our country" Oct-04

Now, honestly, how vague can you get? Did he just honestly say "Don't worry about him"?

Please, I would like the most right-winged person in this forum to rebuttle that.

I usually know what a Republican would say about the whole terror thing "We caught most of their high ranking officals". Well, I hate to burst your bubble, but they were not Osama Bin Laden, and terrorists are aparantly like weeds, if you pull one out, then two are encouraged to grow in it's place. So, in all honesty, I don't feel safer, because OBL is still sending us videotapes.

Now, lets remind everyone here why we are after him in case you forgot.

3,000 families are torn into pieces. They still care about Osama Bin Laden. Every one of them does. Absolutely nothing George Bush can say on television will make them 'forget' that they love their loved ones.

Lets get an honest translation here, Osama Bin Laden uses his expert CIA training to kill 3,000 of our citizens on our own soil. Now, according to our newly elected president, just because 3 years has passed since the incident... He is allowed to say such things as "Don't worry about it"

...Who knows? Maybe he can get away with it... seeing as ONLY 3,000 people died. He must be thinking "Thoes people's families live in New York, and we don't expect to win New York's electoral vote anyways. Nobody cares anyways, especially not my red states. My red states care more about gay rights than Osama Bin Laden. So I better make them 'forget about it' eh?"

I dunno what exactly is going on... but it seems fairly underhanded. And I'd sure as heck would like to know what is going on.

Sorry for ranting, but I'm bored... And angry...

Honestly thought Kerry would win... What were the Democrats thinking? Putting John up for candidate? He's a nice guy, but he seems like the perfect media's dartboard.

God Bless,
-SA

BTW, heres a link to the Daily Show's OBL videotape coverage, well worth the watch. You get to see George Bush's "I am truly not concerned about him" quote. Again, it's mind blowing over how much someone so high on the ladder can get away with no questions asked.

I want an apology, I didn't copy anything from any website, I typed everything down myself. That took me a long time to type up... And the very first person who shows up has to call me a theif.

But okay Mr.Sarcasm, I would tell you how I would handle the whole Osama Bin Laden thing, Maybe if I were president, I'd listen to Richard Clarke... Which Bush aparantly did not.

I tell you what I would do if it were my job to capture bin Laden... I wouldn't become destracted from that effort by some other campaign and then declare myself unconcerned and uninterested. I will not deny that catching bin Laden is a difficult task, but the President in words and actions seems to have been not entirely devoted to the task.

Well anyone who's done any good research on Bin Laden and his family knows that Bush has ties to the family since 1977. Salem bin Laden, was the head of the family business and he invested in Bush's oil company, Arbusto Energy. He was linked to the family financially until 1988 when Salem died in a plane crash. Hmm it's a little fishy to me.

Clinton also had the chance to capture and kill Bin Laden during his time in office. His administration was even "busy" tracking him a whole year before 9/11. There were several missed chances to capture him during those years. But of course, we the masses, don't know a thing about that because we were too busy paying attention the little scandal. ;)

Oh and the most outstanding peice of evidence is that Bin Laden was trained and funded by the CIA to wreak havoc on the Soviet Army, and lookie... he's turning to us now! Onoes! Funny how he pops out of nowhere 4 days before the election. =P

In essence. NO. Bin Laden will never be captured. If he ever is, it'll be be a staged capture. Bush said it himself, there's no need to worry about him... worry about you, or your sons and daughters being drafted to fight a war for the sole purpose of financial gain.

The CIA already found him, but they can't send troops in without causing another Vietnam. He's in an area of Pakistan that is controlled by Islamic Fundamentalists who don't recognize the Pakistani government, and if we put troops on the ground, they will revolt.

According to one person I believe, in a story that fell of the radar almost immediately and was treated with extreme skeptisism to start with.

The US had no fear in going to war in a nation (Afghanistan) and unseating the local rulers in an attempt to find him a few years ago. Now they are unwilling to do the same in a small area of Pakistan? It's not like Islamic fundementalists aren't angry enough at the US already, a little more won't hurt, surely?

If you ask me, the whole CIA thing was probably just a poor attempt at an october surprise... I mean seriously... the most wanted man in the world, you know where he is, and don't do anything? Don't be ridiculous... :p

Another vietnam? You don't think they've already gotten themselves into one with Iraq?

Dead is the better option.

Then "I am truly not concerned about him" March-02
OBL is just one among many. The war against terror will not be won by having OBL's head served to us on a platter.
OBL is not the cause of terrorism. He is an effect 30 years of not taking Islamic terrorism seriously.

Now, hes saying "Americans will not be influenced or intimidated by an enemy of our country" Oct-04
This is a clear reference to the Spanish cowardice of having their votes influenced by a terrorist act. In the heat of an election, Bush makes it clear that Americans have the courage to make the hard choices.
(And Americans did have the courage to make the hard choices too. Congratulations! )

I usually know what a Republican would say about the whole terror thing "We caught most of their high ranking officals". In all honesty, you are not safer. Terrorism is still 'martydom' in much of the middle east. Change won't come without a fundamental change in attitude, and no change in attitude will be possible in the status quo Middle East of today. Hence the democratic experiments in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Now, lets remind everyone here why we are after him in case you forgot.

3,000 families are torn into pieces. They still care about Osama Bin Laden. Every one of them does. Absolutely nothing George Bush can say on television will make them 'forget' that they love their loved ones.
George Bush is the first president to declar war on terror. Before it was just considered a criminal act.
Rest assured all the good ole boys and girls whom I suppose make up the bulk of the services haven't forgotten, and it is Bush who is sending them in harms way in the name of the 3000 American dead.

Lets get an honest translation here, Osama Bin Laden uses his expert CIA training to kill 3,000 of our citizens on our own soil. Now, according to our newly elected president, just because 3 years has passed since the incident... He is allowed to say such things as "Don't worry about it"
That's your spin.

...Who knows? Maybe he can get away with it... seeing as ONLY 3,000 people died. He must be thinking "Thoes people's families live in New York, and we don't expect to win New York's electoral vote anyways. Nobody cares anyways, especially not my red states. My red states care more about gay rights than Osama Bin Laden. So I better make them 'forget about it' eh?"
Perhaps the blue states care more about gay rights than Bush's war on terror as well?
The war against terror is not a personal vendetta against Osama. America can afforde to offend a toothless Europe by going contrary to their wishes, but the current government is Pakistan is very much a key player. At the moment, the stability of that government is very much in American interests.

Honestly thought Kerry would win... What were the Democrats thinking? Putting John up for candidate? He's a nice guy, but he seems like the perfect media's dartboard.
Did you vote for Kerry because you believed he would send American troops over onto Pakistani soil in order to avenge American deaths with Osama's severed head?

I wouldn't be concerned about OBL right now either...

He's too much into the hiding thing to really do much, and if he does come out, he knows and we know he'll be captured or killed.

That, and as a wise person said so recently... OBL is one man. I'd be more concerned about the network at large than just one man.

Try to remember why we went to war in Afghanistan. The Taliban regime was openly and proudly harboring and sponsoring Al qeida and Osama Bin Laden. We gave them the choice of kicking the bad guys out or seeing the underbelly of a B-52. They chose the latter.

I won't even dignify the Vietnam comparison with debate.

OBL is a high-value target, but the beast we call Al Qeida will function without its head. Putting a value on OBL over Al Qeida would be like, say, if the govt had went after Bill Gates instead of trying to crush the Microsoft corporation.

Heh, Osama won't be captured because he's probably on dialasis in some fancy hospital somewhere... if he hasn't died of kidney failure yet. Oh well, we can still make videos of him and bring them up whenever the masses need to be put into fear. Orwell's Goldstein anyone?

Hehe, I agree with the OP :liturgy:

Democrats are much better at catching cave dwelling, Neanderthal, Islamo fascist terrorist. Why if Bill Clinton were still in charge, he would have taken him when he was offered to us by the Sudan and later Saudi Arabia. What kind of anti-American moron let that guy go after he attacked us 8 times virtually begging him to attack us again. Your right Bush is a moron. Oh wait, that stuff happened in 98, my bad Mr. President. ;)

A perfect prediction (11/4)

About 3 months ago, I wrote an article "Al Qaida", said that Bin Laden would issue tape when Bush needed. The prediction is awfully accurate. News of 10/29 said in a tape Bin Laden admitted he ordered 911 attack.

Following is the message I posted 3 months ago, notice the bold text:

Al Qaida: Bush's aid

Is that too conveinent to attribute everything to Al Qaida? Bali bombing in Indonesia, it's Al Qaida; Madrid bombing, it's Al Qaida; Nick Berg beheading, it's Al Qaida; Paul Johnson beheading, it's Al Qaida; Korean beheading; it's.....

Saddam and his high ranking officials were arrested or eliminated in their own land, show me Bin Laden or Al Zarqawi which does so much damage everywhere. But how can they survived in a land not theirs? (Bin Laden is not Afghan, Zarqawi is not Iraqi) It only exists in media, in government propaganda, they use beheading case to wave people's indignation against Islamic people.

Who is Bin Laden? He was trained by CIA as "Freedom fighter", (now there is another name "terrorist") What he did always helped Bush to grasp more power and money and start war. When Bush needs something to raise his rate, Bin Laden would issue a tape on time to remind you he is still there that you need a leader in "war on terror". That's why he exists in media and government propaganda and never be captured.

Now they created another "Al Zarqawi" of Iraq. He played the same role of Bin Laden. He will arouse your hostility against Mid-east people and give Bush an excuse to stay in Iraq, prepare for more Mid- east war. That's the role of Al Qaida.

So next time when you ask "How can a rogue like Bush can stay in his second term?". The answer is "It's Al Qaida". This time the reply is correct and true. Only this Al Qaida is created by Bush himself and acted on Bush's behalf.

What is worse.... 3000 dead americans and torn families by a random act of terrorism, or the entire nation going into a complete economic crisis affecting everyone with gas prices going up well past 15 dollars a gallon?
This is the choice the president has to make.

Bin Laden is ONE man. The oil issue is MULTIPLE countries.

Where does the great focus lie?

The oil issue was caused by hurricanes, the situation in Venezuela and mostly, by Iraq. Much of this was preventable.

*blank stare*

The whole reason we put troops in Saudi Arabia in the gulf war was to keep iraq from getting into our oil fields.

The hurrican and the venezuela issue is extremly minor to the production of oil that comes from Saudi Arabia and the middle east. We are dependent upon them with our economic lives.

Objection - leading the witness.

However, when we have invaded Afhganistan, prevented Osama 'Been Hidin'' from operating freely with the bllessings of the Taliban, I'd say Bush has done something about him. The OP's insinuation that nothing has been done about him is, in fact, not true at all. Could more be done? Perhaps so.... I don't honestly know. What is certain is that Bush's actions thus far have curtailed Al Qaeda's operation.... no one legitimately refutes that either (note that I said 'legitimately').

we sit here and yell at bush.... yet we also sit here and yell at him cause other countries are yelling at him, but those other countries aren't doing a darn thing to capture bin laden, who in which has/will affect the whole world. This is VERY wrong.
