Honestly, I find it best not to argue matters of Faith with them. It is bad for my blood pressure. ^_^

You've got that right. Also, we shouldn't be tempting them to say things that they are going to have to answer to Christ for on Judgment Day for what they've said about His mother. Also, I try not to even bring up the topic because it exposes the Theotokos to ridicule. If a person is not open to the truth about her, then telling them is not going to do any good at all.

This is one of the reasons I will not discuss the Holy Mysteries over in GT.

I've honestly never seen any of this be an issue for any Pr.

At the wedding feast of Cana, they ran out of wine. The blessed Virgin Mary went up to Jesus and intercessed on behalf of the guests. Christ responded by saying, "What is that to me and you". He then granted Her request. The Theotokos then approached the 'servants' and said, 'Whatever He says to you, do it"(Jn 2.1-12).

to expand on this point, the servants went to Mary first, and NOT to Christ.

Visit the Mariology forum. There are plenty of protestants who have issues with the Theotokos....the title Theotokos, her being an ever-virgin, her being the mother of Jesus, who is God and man, so therefore she is the Mother of God, etc.

It depends on the sect(s) of Protestantism you regularly interact with. It was a matter fo contraversy in my hometown amongst the local churches. The Lutherans, Anglicans, and Episcopalians(sp) generally didn't have an issue with venerating Mary. In general, the Presbyterians, nondenominationals, baptists, and charismatics strongly discouraged the veneration of Mary. That was my experience, I don't know if it is that way everywhere.

Also, I have seen posters on Christian Forums that do take a hard stance against any sort of devotion to Mary, so, the attitude is out there.

I do think it is a mistake to lump all of Protestantism together as if they have some sort of dogmatic consensus amongst themselves. There is very, very little that Protestants agree on across the board besides that Jesus is God, God is Trinity, and somehow Jesus's death gives us a way to salvation (and the first two dogma are even rejected by some churches that call themselves Protestant).
