In this day and age, countless numbers of people in the world have lost the awe of God, i.e. the fear of the Lord, which is the beginning of wisdom. It has been my observation that numerous people in our day have become too casual about God, including many among those who profess the name of Jesus, and that is why so many are living and walking in the flesh instead of in the Spirit. We need to return to a people who have a reverential regard for the Lord, in submission to his authority and to his will for our lives, following his ways, keeping his words, believing in his sovereignty, knowing who he is, and honoring him as the holy God that he is. “All who follow His precepts have good understanding.”

In Keeping Them / An Original Work / June 3, 2014
Based off Ps. 111:10; 19:7-11

Stand in awe of your Lord.
Harken to His teachings.
Follow where He leads you.
Live for Him today.

Through Him you gain wisdom;
Knowledge; understanding.
To my Lord belongs all
Worship and my praise.

Perfect is the Word,
Refreshing souls in His love.
His commands are faithful,
Guiding us each day.

Joy comes to the heart of
Those who love His teachings;
Follow His instructions.
He will light their way.

Abide in the Lord, and
Obey His commandments.
His Word is more precious
Than all of our gold.

By His Word He warns us,
Comforts, and implores us.
When we follow His Word,
There is great reward.

The Lord Jesus has not given me any new songs to write since June of 2014, yet I have been methodically getting each one placed on Vimeo. You can see them here: https://vimeo.com/user24646109

The entire collection of song lyrics can be downloaded here, if you are interested: Original Works Song Book | Original Works

I thank and praise my Lord for these songs as they regularly encourage my heart and help to strengthen me in my faith. I hope they have been a blessing to you, as well.

Weary of Heart

"As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you; And you will be comforted in Jerusalem." Isaiah 66:13

Our God is not weak. He is strong and powerful. And, yet, he is also gentle and tender like a mother hen is to her chicks. He comforts his children like a mother comforts her young. He gathers us in His arms like a shepherd gathers his sheep, if we are willing.

So, when we, his followers and servants, grow weak and tired; when we are sad or feeling lonely or forgotten; or when we lack the physical or emotional strength to keep going because of hardship, persecution and trouble in our lives, he brings us comfort. He quiets our anxious hearts and fills us with his peace when we call on him in truth, trusting in his love and mercy. He will never leave us or forsake us. He knows what we are going through. He has not forgotten us. He will empower us and give us strength to endure if we trust him.

Weary of Heart / An Original Work

Based off Isaiah 40 / January 23, 2016

You who bring the Good News,
Lift up your voice.
Do not fear. Shout it out:
“Here is your God!”
The sovereign Lord comes
With power and strength.
He gathers His tender lambs
In His arms.

Lift up your eyes and look:
“Who made all things?”
God, our creator knows
All about you.
Your cause is not
Disregarded by God.
He will not leave;
He’ll not abandon you.

When you are troubled
And weary of heart,
Trust the Lord with your life.
Do not despair.
He will empower you;
Strengthen within.
Soar on wings like eagles,
Walk and not faint.

When God says in his Word that we are to be holy as he is holy, he means that we are to be separate from (different, unlike) this sinful world, because we are becoming like Jesus. His idea of worship of him is that we offer our lives to him as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to him, which is our reasonable service of worship of him. We are to no longer be conformed to the ways of this sinful world, but we are to be transformed in heart and in the renewing of the mind, which is the work of the Spirit of God in our lives, as we submit to God’s Lordship over our lives. So, to worship God in holiness means we give our lives to him to live holy lives, pleasing to him, unlike this sinful world, no longer conformed to its ways, because he is transforming our hearts and minds and is conforming us to Christ’s likeness.

The way this worship of God in holiness is realized in our daily lives is in how we live our lives each and every day. Jesus died that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. Is this being reflected in our daily lives? Are we following him wherever he leads us, or are we going our own way, with an occasional nod his direction? Are we keeping his Word, not in sinless perfection, but as a practice of our daily lives? Are we walking according to the Spirit and no longer according to our sinful flesh? Does our walk match our talk? Are we letting our light shine before the people of this earth, or are we hiding our light under a bushel? Are we daily sitting at Jesus’ feet, drinking in his Word, listening to what he says, and then doing it? Or, do we walk away, forgetting what we look like? Is the love of Jesus flowing out from our lives into the lives of others? God/Jesus wants us to worship him in holiness!

In Holiness / An Original Work
February 1, 2016

Praise the Lord all you saints!
Worship God in holiness.
Trust in Him! Do not faint!
Believe in His righteousness.

God is faithful in all things.
He delivered you from sin.
Follow Him where’er He leads.
Witness daily. His words heed.

Trust in Him! He is truth!
He has not forsaken you.
Rest in Him! Let Him lead!
He will meet all of your needs.

When you go through trials deep,
He’ll be with you. He’ll not sleep.
Walk with Him throughout your day.
Read your Bible. Kneel and pray.

Give to God all your heart!
From His mercy ne’er depart.
Jesus died for your sin!
Walk in vict’ry. Live in Him.

Jesus paid the debt we owe.
From our lives His love should flow,
Living for Him ev’ry day,
Loving others, His words say.

While we live on the face of this earth, we will have troubles, hardships and trials. As followers of Jesus Christ, we have an arch enemy in Satan, who is out to destroy the church. So, we should expect that we will be hated, persecuted, despised and rejected of humankind. Although Satan is our real enemy, he has many people working for him whose goal it is, also, to destroy the church. And, they are coming against us fiercely, either through physical warfare or through psychological warfare, manipulation, and deception. Yet, their real enemy is Jesus Christ and his gospel of salvation. So, they are aggressively attacking the foundations of the gospel and the basis for our faith in Jesus Christ. Their goal is to discredit the gospel, and to prove it to be hateful, bigoted, intolerant and divisive, all the while they are passionately promoting global unity among all faiths.

Yet, we are to be encouraged. Our God is completely sovereign and in control over all things and over all powers. Although right now the enemy of our souls is coming against him, and his gospel, and his followers, he will reign supreme over all. One day his name will be lifted up throughout the earth, and he will be honored and worshiped as the King of kings, and Lord of lords. One day every knee will bow and will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. Amen! So, we should not be afraid or get discouraged. God has a plan and a purpose for all of this, which is to bring humans to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, to revive his adulterous church, to mature his followers in Christ, and to strengthen us in our faith. So, be strong and courageous! God is with us! He will never leave us or forsake us. Amen!

Forever With Us / An Original Work
Based off Psalm 46 / February 5, 2016

Be still and know
God is over all things.
Throughout the earth,
He’ll be honored as King.
The Lord Almighty,
Forever with us.
He is our refuge
When we’re in distress.

Therefore, we have
Not a reason to fear.
Trials will come,
But our God is still near.
He is our helper,
So we do not fall.
Mountains will quake,
But on Jesus we call.

Joy to the Church,
Even if sorrow comes.
Enemies rage,
But our faith marches on.
God’s Holy Spirit,
Now living within,
Gives peace and comfort,
And grace without end.

And he said to his disciples, “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat, nor about your body, what you will put on. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing. Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse nor barn, and yet God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds! And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? If then you are not able to do as small a thing as that, why are you anxious about the rest? Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass, which is alive in the field today, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith! And do not seek what you are to eat and what you are to drink, nor be worried. For all the nations of the world seek after these things, and your Father knows that you need them. Instead, seek his kingdom, and these things will be added to you.

“Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” ~ Luke 12:22-32 (ESV)

Fear Not, Little Flock / An Original Work
Based off Luke 12 / February 10, 2016

Fear not, little flock,
Your Lord’s always near.
Jesus will come and
Wipe every tear.
Trust in His mercy,
Rest in His love.
He’ll give you comfort
From heaven above.

Our precious Redeemer,
Jesus, our friend,
He will be with us,
True to the end.
He will not leave you,
Faithful He’ll be.
Believe His promises,
Rest on His knee.

Our God, and provider,
He knows our need.
He’ll not forsake you.
Follow His lead.
He’ll love and comfort you
To the end.
Know, on His Word,
You can always depend.

When we are born into this world, we are born with sin natures, without God, without hope, and destined to spend eternity in hell. God loved us so much, though, that he sent his only begotten Son into the world that whoever believes in him should not perish but should have everlasting life with God. God is not willing that any of us should perish, but that all of us should come to repentance and to faith in his Son, Jesus Christ. When we repent, we turn from our lifestyles of sin, and we turn to follow Jesus Christ with our lives. We die to sin in order that we might live to righteousness – all in the power of the Spirit living within us.

Many people do not yet know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Some people profess to know him, but they never repented of their sins, and thus they were not born again, crucified with Christ to sin, that they might live to him; to righteousness. Others know him, but they are not walking with him in obedience. They have drifted from their pure devotion to their Lord, and they need to be brought back. Any of these may be living to please self, and may be caught up in wasting their lives away on what will never satisfy the deep longings of their souls. So, the encouragement here is to call on Jesus, to listen to him, to turn from your sins, and to walk in victory over sin, living to him and to his righteousness.

Give Ear to Jesus / An Original Work
Based off Isaiah 55 / February 16, 2016

Call on your Savior.
Seek the Lord while He is near.
Let the wicked forsake his way;
Turn to the Lord.
God will have mercy.
He’ll forgive you of your sin.
He will freely pardon you
And give peace within.
Turn from your sin, follow Jesus,
Be cleansed from sin.

Give ear to Jesus.
Come to Him. Your soul will live.
Listen to Him speaking to you:
“Eat what is good.”
If you are thirsty,
Come to Jesus, drink from Him.
Drink His Spirit given to you.
Be born again.
Listen to Him. Do what He says.
Rejoice in Him.

God’s Word, eternal,
Will achieve what He desires.
He is willing none should perish,
Saved by His blood.
Share now the gospel.
Jesus died so we’d go free.
Walk in vict’ry,
Free from your sin, eternally.
Die to sin, and live to Jesus.
In Him believe.
