The Sabbath was designed as a day for rest.
When the law of Moses was added, there were specific ordinances added that carried specific requirements for the children of Israel, such as death to those who picked up sticks to kindle a fire.
You shall keep the Sabbath, therefore, for it is holy to you. Everyone who profanes it shall surely be put to death; for whoever does any work on it, that person shall be cut off from among his people. Work shall be done for six days, but the seventh is the Sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death. Exodus 31:14-15

The civil laws of ISRAEL under the old covenant are not ordinances but statutes that are linked to judgements for anyone openly breaking anyone of God's 10 commandments. These laws were not restricted to the Sabbath but included most of God's 10 commandments that were openly broken. Where those who where caught openly or publically breaking anyone of God's 10 commandments were stoned to death.

These death penalties were not unique to the Sabbath but to most of God’s 10 commandments and were a part of the civil laws of Moses (Statutes) to help teach God’s people that the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23)

The same death penalty was given to anyone who was caught breaking 1st . Commandment, Thou shalt have no other gods before me (Exodus 20:3; Deuteronomy 17:1-5; 14:6-10; Exodus 22:20); 2nd Commandment, Exodus 20:4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any idols (Exodus 20:4; Deuteronomy 27: 15); 3rd Commandment, Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord in vain (Exodus 20:7; Leviticus 24:16); 4th yep; 5th commandment and cursing there Mother and farther (Exodus 20:12; Exodus 21:15-17); 6th commandment thou shalt not kill (Exodus 20: 13; Leviticus 24:17; Numbers 35:31-33); 7th commandment thou shalt not commit Adultery (Exodus 20:14; Leviticus 20:10; John 8:3-5) etc.

This ceased during the time of Christ when Israel was under Roman law and at the death of Christ bringing in the NC. The death penalty is still in force today for those that do not repent before the time of judgement is finished (Romans 6:23; James 2:8-12).

The only difference today is that we are in the new covenant now so we no longer put people to open death and we are not in the nation of ISRAEL. The death penalty for sin is still the same however for those who reject the gift of God's dear son *Romans 6:23 but JESUS says Vengence is mine and his reward will be with him at the 2nd coming *Romans 12:19-21; Revelation 22:12

Since Jesus came and these ordinances were taken out of the way, having been nailed to the cross, the Sabbath has simply returned to its original mandate of being a day for man to rest.

The civil laws of Israel are not ordinances they are statutes or laws linked to judgements where as jugements are the penalty of broken statutes and law. Ordinances tend to be applied to (but not always) ceremonial and ritual laws (e.g. passover, feast days, sin offerings, Sanctuary laws). Much of which is determined by the Hebrew or Greek word used.

So how does a person go about observing the Sabbath today, under the New Covenant? Can we cook? Can we travel? Can we make our bed? What specifically did Jesus and His Apostles teach, because anything outside of what Jesus specifically taught is a man made teaching. To be crystal clear, the 10 Commandments has not been abolished or done away with. The only question is how the Church is to observe the Sabbath today, under the New Covenant

Much of this post is repitition and has been answered elsewhere. No you cannot cook on the Sabbath that is why there is a preparation day. The origin of the preparation day is from *EXODUS 16:5; EXODUS 16:22 see also in the new testament *MARK 15:42; LUKE 23:54; JOHN 19:31. You can travel on the Sabbath although if the travel involves much work I would imagine it would not be lawful. JESUS travelled on the Sabbath and went to church as did Paul which was their custom *LUKE 4:16; Acts of the Apostles 17:2. I think this was posted to you some time back.

HOW DO WE KEEP THE SABBATH?

WHAT DOES GOD'S 4TH COMMANDMENT SAY?

EXODUS 20:8-11
[8], Remember the SABBATH DAY, to KEEP IT HOLY. <Why?> Because God made it Holy for mankind and commands us to keep it as a Holy day)
[9], Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work:
[10], But the SEVENTH DAY IS THE SABBATH of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: <WHY>[11], For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the SEVENTH DAY: wherefore the LORD BLESSED THE SABBATH, and HALLOWED IT.

WHAT DAY IS GOD'S SABBATH?

v10 The SEVENTH DAY of the week. (Saturday)

WHEN DOES THE SEVENTH DAY OF THE WEEK START?

GENESIS 1:4-5
[4], And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. [5], And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

A day in God's time is the night (darkness) and the light make up one day. The DAY in God's WORD starts at SUNSET and ends the following SUNSET. So God's 4th Commandment Sabbath would start Friday at SUNSET and end Saturday at SUNSET.

ALL UNECCESSARY WORK TO BE DONE BEFORE FRIDAY SUNSET

EXODUS 16:22-23
[22], And it came to pass, that on the sixth day they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for one man: and all the rulers of the congregation came and told Moses.[23], And he said to them, This is that which the LORD has said, To morrow is the rest of the holy sabbath to the LORD: bake that which you will bake to day, and seethe that you will seethe; and that which remains over lay up for you to be kept until the morning.

MARK 15:42, And now when the even was come, because it was the preparation, that is, the day before the sabbath

The preparation day is the 6th day of the week. This includes preparing to stop all business and secular work as well as any domestic work; cooking, cleaning; shopping, buying and selling that can be done on any other day of the week.

IT IS LAWFUL TO DO GOOD ON THE SABBATH?

MATTHEW 12:5-12
[5], Or have you not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless?
[6], But I say to you, That in this place is one greater than the temple.
[7], But if you had known what this means, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, you would not have condemned the guiltless.
[8], For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day
[9], And when he was departed from there, he went into their synagogue:
[10], And, behold, there was a man who had his hand withered. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse him.
[11], And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out?
[12], How much then is a man better than a sheep? Therefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days.

MARK 2:27, And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath

It is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.

WHAT IS LAWFUL ON GOD'S SABBATH?

1. Remembering the creator and his creation (Exod 20:8-11)
2. Rest from all unnecessary work (Exodus 20:10-11)
3. Doing good (Matthew 12:12)
4. Prayer (Acts 16:13)
5. Worship the creator (Isaiah 58:13-14; Exodus 34:14; 1KING 9:6; Rev 14:6-12)

Song, praise, bible study, helping others, preaching the gospel, resting, prayer, seeking God, remembering the creator and his creation. Walking in nature, going to church with like minded believers. (too many scriptures)

WHAT IS NOT LAWFUL ON GOD'S SABBATH?

WORK; all business and secular work as well as any domestic work; cooking, cleaning; shopping, buying and selling that can be done on any other day of the week and anything to do with work (Exodus 20:8-11; Exodus 16:22-23) Doing God's work and doing good is ok *Matthew 12:12-13.

.............

There is no purpose in FOLLOWING any of God's LAWs including the SABBATH if it is NOT done through FAITH that works by LOVE because it is ONLY as GOD writes his LAW to LOVE then we can take up our beds to follow him. LOVE is the fulfilling of GOd's LAW in those who BELIEVE (Rom 13:8-10). Let's not play games with Gods' Word.

Hope this helps.

True Sabbath was established as a day of rest, but was it for mankind of the Children of Israel? (please provide scriptures) Are you implying that the Sabbath was made at creation for mankind? If so, what scriptures supports that understanding.
Yes the Sabbath was made for mankind in the seventh day of the creation week. This is directly confimed and stated in the very words of JESUS...

MARK 2:27 [27], And he said to them, THE SABBATH WAS MADE FOR MAN, and not man for the sabbath

Hebrew and Greek Dictionaries w/TVM, Strong
Man; G444; ἄνθρωπος; anthrōpos From G435 and ὤψ ōps (the countenance ; from G3700); manfaced, that is, a human being: - certain, man.

The Sabbath was made for mankind when mankind was in perfect harmony with God before sin or a need of God's plan of salvation for mankind because of sin. This is stated directly in GENESIS 2:1-3 here...

GENESIS 2:1-3 [1], Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
[2], And ON THE SEVENTH DAY God ended his work which he had made; and HE RESTED [שׁבת; shâbath H7673; KEEP SABBATH] on the SEVENTH DAY from all his work which he had made. [3], And GOD BLESSED THE SEVENTH DAY AND MADE IT HOLY: BECAUSE THAT IN IT HE HAD RESTED [שׁבת; shâbath H7673; Keep Sabbath] from all his work which God created and made.

There was NO JEW and NO ISRAEL when God created the Sabbath for all mankind before sin. The Sabbath was made at creation when there was only Adam and Eve and there was no sin.

This said God's ISRAEL which came much latter is only a name given by God to Jacob to represent all those who believe and follow God's Word *GENESIS 32:28. The new covnenant scriptures also show that God's ISRAEL are all those who believe and follow God's Word * EPHESIANS 2:11-14; GALATIANS 3:28-29; ROMANS 9:6-8; ROMANS 2:28-29; COLOSSIANS 3:11; ROMANS 10:11-13.

So which ever way you look at it God's seventh day Sabbath is for all those who believe and follow God's Word today and obviously not for those who do not believe and follow Gods' Word as these are unbelievers who have no part in Gods kingdom. If you are not a part of God's ISRAEL you have no part in the new covenant promise *HEBREWS 8:10-12. Gentiles are now grafted in *ROMANS 11:13-27.

Hope this is helpful

The death penalty is still in force today for those that do not repent before the time of judgement is finished (Romans 6:23; James 2:8-12).

So please tells us what it means to violate the Sabbath today, under the New Covenant.

IOW, how does a person go about observing the Sabbath today, under the New Covenant?

Can we cook?
Can we travel?
Can we make our bed?

To be crystal clear, the 10 Commandments has not been abolished or done away with.

The only question is how the Church is to observe the Sabbath today, under the New Covenant.

Please use scripture, from Jesus or the Apostles that instruct us as to how we as Christians are to observe the Sabbath today, so that we do not violate the 4th Commandment to:
Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy.

Your question has been answered in post # 41 linked. Why did you ignore this post and the scriptures provided in them that answer your question and pretend it does not exist? If you believe that your questions have not been answered please show why and respond to my posts and scriptures provided showing why you do not agree. If you cannot why are you simply repeating yourself without proving why you disagree?

Since there is no mention of a Sabbath requirement in the new covenant, I to would like to know what the penalty is for violating some man made teaching. Ellen White wrote the following: But if we turn aside from the fourth commandment, so positively given by God, to adopt the inventions of Satan, voiced and acted by men under his control, we cannot be saved. We cannot with safety receive his traditions and subtleties as truth. {RH, July 6, 1897 par. 4} She claimed her writings are the words God gave her. You can decide, I have already decided.

In all fairness those questions were answered.

What specifically did Jesus and His Apostles teach, because anything outside of what Jesus specifically taught is a man made teaching.
Want to reconsider that thought?

To be crystal clear, the 10 Commandments has not been abolished or done away with.

Have you not read the following: 2Cor 3:
6 He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant – not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

The greater glory of the new covenant
7 Now if the ministry that brought death, which was engraved in letters on stone, came with glory, so that the Israelites could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of its glory, transitory though it was, 8 will not the ministry of the Spirit be even more glorious? 9 If the ministry that brought condemnation was glorious, how much more glorious is the ministry that brings righteousness! 10 For what was glorious has no glory now in comparison with the surpassing glory. 11 And if what was transitory came with glory, how much greater is the glory of that which lasts!

Those verses are telling me that the ten commandments as being Israel's guide were temporary and now it is the Holy Spirit that is our Guide. They tell me that the ten commandments were the ministry that brought death. Are you sure you want to be under the ten?

The only question is how the Church is to observe the Sabbath today, under the New Covenant.
You answered that question in you previous thought. You wrote that the ten commandments have not been done away with. If that is a reality then there is no "question".

Please use scripture, from Jesus or the Apostles that instruct us as to how we as Christians are to observe the Sabbath today, so that we do not violate the 4th Commandment to:
Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy.
I thought you only trusted Jesus. Now you indicate you will accept what the Apostles wrote? He did a fair job for the most part although he didn't mention Is 58:13 ‘If you keep your feet from breaking the Sabbath
and from doing as you please on my holy day,
if you call the Sabbath a delight
and the Lord’s holy day honourable,
and if you honour it by not going your own way
and not doing as you please or speaking idle words,

Could it be that he cannot live up to those commands, so he didn't bother to relate them to you?

Paul wrote in Gal 1: 6 I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel – 7 which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse! Gal 3: 10 For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, as it is written: ‘Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law. The ten commandments were written in the book of the law.

JLB
When Mark 2:27 is isolated out of it's context or man is changed to mankind, you can add commentary that Jesus never said.
Here is the context.
Mar 2:23 ¶And it came to pass, that he went through the corn fields on the sabbath day; and his disciples began, as they went, to pluck the ears of corn.
Mar 2:24 And the Pharisees said unto him, Behold, why do they on the sabbath day that which is not lawful?
Mar 2:25And he said unto them, Have ye never read what David did, when he had need, and was an hungred, he, and they that were with him?
Mar 2:26 How he went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest, and did eat the shewbread, which is not lawful to eat but for the priests, and gave also to them which were with him?
Mar 2:27 ¶And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:
Mar 2:28 Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.

Jesus appear to be saying. The needs of man outweighs the Sabbath because the Sabbath was created for man and not the other way around.
When you change the word from 'man' to 'mankind', this is the change of His word that Jesus warned us about.

Matthews account of the same event give us a clearer perspective of what Jesus is teaching.
The same lesson taught by Christ to the Pharisees in red below.

Mat 12:3 ¶ But he said unto them, Have ye not read what David did, when he was an hungred, and they that were with him;
Mat 12:4 How he entered into the house of God, and did eat the shewbread, which was not lawful for him to eat, neither for them which were with him, but only for the priests?
Mat 12:5 Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless?
Mat 12:6But I say unto you, That in this place is one greater than the temple.

Mat 12:7 But if ye had known what this meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless.

Jesus brought up David, the shewbread and the priest to explain what He also did with His disciples.
Jesus explained that on the Sabbath the priests do works that violates the Sabbath and they are held blameless.
I am the great high priest. I the Lord of the Sabbath would rather have mercy by feeding the hungry, than having them sacrifice by going hungry to keep the Sabbath.

My point is, Jesus was not establishing or explaining that Sabbath was made at creation for mankind.
That's a backdoor approach that contradicts other scriptures.

Can you please show how the CONTEXT of MARK 2:27 changes the meaning of the very words of JESUS that says THE SABBATH WAS MADE FOR MANKIND? - It doesn't as shown in the scriptures you have provided. JESUS saying that the SABBATH WAS MADE FOR MAN means the Sabbath was made for MAN! There is nothing not a single reference that you have provided here dear friend that shows a change in the meaning of the words of JESUS.

The GREEK word used for man here in MARK 2:27 is ἄνθρωπος; G444; anthrōpos
From G435 and ὤψ ōps (the countenance ; from G3700); manfaced, that is, a human being: - certain, man.

Man here is in reference to mankind or human beings.
My point is, Jesus was not establishing or explaining that Sabbath was made at creation for mankind. That's a backdoor approach that contradicts other scriptures.
Nonsense. JESUS saying that the SABBATH was made for mankind is in reference to the creation of the Sabbath in GENESIS 2:1-3 where the Sabbath was made for mankind at creation. I believe your approach here dear friend contradicts the scriptures as your making claims you cannot prove through the scriptures as shown through the scriptures shared with you.

Hope this helps.

Bob, the Sabbath requirement is mentioned all through the new covenant. Everyone of God's 10 Commandments (including God' 4th commandment) is shown all through the new covenant scriptures (scripture support here). JESUS and the Aposltes and disciples all through time to this present day all kept God's 4th commandment according to the scriptures.

For example..

1. It is lawful to do good on the Sabbath (Matthew 12:1-8; 10-12; 24:20; Mark 3:1-5; Luke 6:1-10; 13:14-16; 14:1-5; John 7:22-23; 9:14; Mark 1:21; Mark 6:2; Luke 4:16; 31; Luke 14:1; 23:56)
2. Jesus made the Sabbath for all mankind (Hebrews 1:2; John 1:1-3; 14; Ephesians 3:9; Colossians 1:16-17; Mark 2:27)
3. Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath (Mark 2:28)
4. If you do not believe and follow God you cannot enter His Sabbath rest (Hebrews 4)
5. It is one of God’s 10 commandments we break it we are guilty or breaking all (James 2:8-12)
6. Breaking it is sin (1 John 3:4)
7. God’s true followers keep it Holy as God commanded (Rev 14:12; Rev 22:14; Eze 20:20)
8. Jesus is our example and he kept the Sabbath (Matt 12:1-8; 10-12; 24:20; Mark 3:1-5; Luke 6:1-10; 13:14-16; 14:1-5; John 7:22-23; 9:14; Mark 1:21; Mark 6:2; Luke 4:16; 31; Luke 14:1; 23:56; John 2:6; Matthew 16:24; 1 Corinthians 11:1; Ephesians 5:1-21; Peter 2:20-22)
9. The Apostle kept the Sabbath (Acts 13:14; 13:27; 13:44; 15:21; 16:13; 17:2; 18:4; Revelation 1:10)

According to Gods' Word in the new covenant, sin is defined as not believing God's Word and breaking anyone of God's 10 commandments *ROMANS 14:23; 1 JOHN 3:4 because the role of God's LAW (10 commandments) in the new covenant is to give us the knowledge of GOOD AND EVIL; SIN and RIGHTEOUSNESS *ROMANS 3:20; ROMANS 7:7; 1 JOHN 3:4. According to God's Word in the new covenant if we knowingly break anyone of God's 10 commandments we stand guilty before God of sin. Those who knowingly practice known unrepentant sin will not enter into the kingdom of Heaven because they reject the gift of God's dear son and count the blood of the covenant an unholy thing *ROMANS 6:23; HEBREWS 10:26-31.

Now as you can see all of the above here are new covenant scriptures. Is it lawful to do GOOD on the Sabbath Bob? Sin will keep all those who knowingly practice it out of God's Kingdom.

Hope this helps.

JESUS saying that the SABBATH WAS MADE FOR MAN means the Sabbath was made for MAN! There is nothing not a single reference that you have provided here dear friend that shows a change in the meaning of the words of JESUS.
I did post the context. It proves that Jesus words in Mark 2:27 was not a partial quote that appears as a creation discussion. That's a grey area at best. When you say/read the complete verse or sentence, the context is made clear.
The text says
Mar 2:27 And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:

Why did Jesus say: The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath? Looking at the previous verses from Mar 2:23, we read that Jesus allowed His disciples to pick corn on the Sabbath. The Pharisees then accused Him of breaking the Sabbath.
Jesus told them about David raiding the temple and the Priest allowed it.
His lesson to them with respect to the context is; feeding a hungry man on the Sabbath has priority to a man going hungry in order to keep the Sabbath. (28)And I have the authority as Lord of the Sabbath.

When you just say "Sabbath was made for man." and stop there. You added a period and changed what Jesus said.
If that's the best Creation Sabbath text you got. That's pretty weak.

Nonsense dear friend. You already know all the old and new testment scrpitures shared here that prove God's 4th commandment is one of Gods 10 commandments right. God's Word teaches that they are all a part of God's requirements for Christians under the new covenant promise and are to be written on the heart through love *HEBREWS 8:10-12; ROMANS 13:8-10; JAMES 2:8-12; MATTHEW 22:36-40; ROMANS 3:31; ROMANS 8:1-4; MATTHEW 7:12-27; 1 JOHN 2:2-4; REVELATION 12:17; REVELATION 14:12; REVELATION 22:14; JOHN 14:15; 1 JOHN 5:3; JOHN 15:10.

Yes you posted the context dear friend but I asked you where in the context does it change the meaning of the words of JESUS in MARK 2:27. It doesn't. This is why I asked you to please show how the CONTEXT of MARK 2:27 changes the meaning of the very words of JESUS that says THE SABBATH WAS MADE FOR MANKIND? - It doesn't as shown in the scriptures you have provided. Say "Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath" 3 times in a row. You will get exactly what Jesus is saying
I believe I've made my case quite clear. Mic drop on this topic.

Indeed so how does the context you claim change the meaning of JESUS saying that the Sabbath was made for mankind? - It doesn't

Jesus appear to be saying. The needs of man outweighs the Sabbath because the Sabbath was created for man and not the other way around.
This might be a fair summation if verse 28 was left out.
That's a backdoor approach that contradicts other scriptures.
Speaking of backdoor approaches that contradict other scriptures:

This:
Mat 12:7 But if ye had known what this meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless.
And this:
For I desire mercy and not sacrifice, And the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings. (Hosea 6:6)
Mean this(?):
I am the great high priest. I the Lord of the Sabbath would rather have mercy by feeding the hungry, than having them sacrifice by going hungry to keep the Sabbath.
This doesn't really conform to a sound harmony of the Gospels application.

We're not in agreement at all, because all the scriptures you present as "creation sabbath" text are questionable at best.

Are we in a discussion about the 4th commandment being in the ten commandments? OK you got a winner. You got that one right.
The rest of your comments and scriptures attached is to support your point of view. I disagree

(My arguments are all valid. You have not disproved anything I said. Whatever you want to talk about is all that matters to you.) Remember, I will not read your statements longer than a paragraph. Why? You have too much to say about everything, and you don't effectively address rebuttals.
Till another day.

Yet here you still are my dear friend not able to prove what you say? For me I believe all you have provided so far is a lot of empty claims you cannot prove from the scriptures. Does this not worry you? It should. I believe only God's Word is true and we should believe and follow it *ROMANS 3:4 over man made teachings and traditions that break the commandmetns of God *MATTHEW 15:2-9.

But I'm not trying to come to an agreement. Why don't we be honest about what we're doing here? I'm disputing false interpretations of Scripture depicting God (Jesus) as changing the way He saves people in the middle of history. He Changes not. (Malachi 3:6) He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. (Hebrews 13:8) He was the same when He instituted the seventh day of rest in Genesis 2:2-3. He is the same when He says through the angel in Revelation 14:7: "...and worship Him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters" which is practically a word-for-word repeat of the same designation found in Exodus 20:11: "the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is." And the same Person He was when he said:
The sabbath was made for man
a human (anthrōpos - ἄνθρωπος)
and
Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.

Same way If I said, Jesus said: " Mankind was NOT made for Sabbath", and then argue that you cant change what Christ is saying. I would not be able to sleep at night.
You have no choice but to play this word game with all the scriptures. you post

Play what word games with scripture. I have only posted scripture which is God's Word. They are the very words of JESUS not mine.

Do you not believe them?
