  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hey everyone I have a question for you. This past summer I did a paid internship with my home church and was basically the interim youth pastor for the summer while we were looking for a new guy to come in and take over. My pastor said that since I served there for the first time that they would be the ones to "license" me at the next deacon ordination service. We are a Southern Baptist church and I was just wondering what all it means to be licensed by a church? Thanks :)

I was licensed by a church in Virginia that belonged to the SBC. It really depends how the law of your state read and what your church wants you to do. In VA I couldn't preform marriages or baptisms. In AL by state law I can do pretty much was a ordained pastor can.
