[open] Time between belly drop & active labor

My doctor's appt isn't until 3pm, my doctor only works in the afternoons and they take a 2 hour lunch so I can only get appts between 2-5pm.

Hello all!

I had a horrible appt with a doctor in my doc's office. Got a lot of slack about not having an epidural.

Good news is, the pink discharge is my mucus plug and my group B Strep test was negative.

This doctor thinks I'll still be pregnant next Friday for my next appt.

hi everyone yeah, I though it sounded like your plug.....and hey at least you have a few days to finish up the last few things...please oh please don't jump on the wives tale bandwagon to get labor started your baby will come when he or she is ready......and as for the epidural...I don't know your reasons..but just remember you have the right to change your mind during labor, and it doesnt make you less of a woman...in fact, I felt more empowered because I wasnt going out my mind in pain..but to each his own..and you'll be fine....happy pushing!

I have medical reasons not to have one, I've had RA for ten years leading to damage of the spine making it unsafe. I fully plan on calling for IV pain meds if I need them though!

I think its weird that an obgyn would be upset that youre not getting an epidural if there's a good reason for it. Right before I had my epidural I finally gave in to my drug pushing nurse (I'm sure I told you about that chick) and allowed her to give half a dose of the IV meds. It made me very dizzy and out of it, so since you are about my size if you go for it ask for half a dose first....

Good to know. I worry about pain killers, being small they normally hit me like a truck.

Yeah, but if you need it you need it. I do believe I was even "humorous" for a short bit you do feel drugged, but you still know who you are and what you're doing.... The only thing to know is that it does cross to the baby so if its close to birth baby may be woozy.

I also only had the IV pain meds. I waited as long as possible because I didn't like the idea of how the meds pass through to the baby. You do feel woozy when they first administer them but then the wooziness passes and you can concentrate again. I'd guess that you'll do great with the labor pains since you already have to manage pain with your RA. Sorry that your dr was pushy about the epidural. I'd be really bugged. You've got valid medical reasons. Me, well, I was just too wimpy about something in my back.

Thanks. It's not wimpy. I've had joint injections - they are no laughing matter. Even if I didn't have a valid medical reason, I do not think I'd want something put into my spine. I figure the spine should be left alone...it's too important to mess with, IMHO.

No. I'm still contracting about every 35 minutes and they hurt a lot more now but they seem to be stuck that way.

I want this over with.

Bummer.... well all this early labor just makes it easier for the end labor. Maybe tomorrow!!
