• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I was wandeirng if the SDA church has made an statement open theism or does it leave it up to the individual(sp?) to accept it or not.

We believe that God knows the end from the beginning.

Open theism is a heretical idea. I caution you to stay away from those who support it.

What is open theism? Never heard of it.

It's the idea that God really doesn't know what the future holds, except for what He wills within it.

In other words, God knows the big picture of life, but doesn't know the bits and pieces which bring it all together prior to its completion.

Does this make sense?

No, its just that I dont understand exactly what is so heretical about it.

I see how it is wrong but it doesnt seem to be a salvational issue.

It's heretical because it denies the omniscience of God.

Take away God's omniscience and you are left with one who is just like finite men. Thus you are left with a God who you really can't rely on.

Can you now see the danger in this way of thinking, and how it could lead one to forfeit his salvation?

It is easy to assume the role of God when you can't see Him as One who is greater than yourself. Those who promote Open Theism are in danger of doing this. In fact, I have already seen this happen. It's called panentheism--God made in the image of man.
