My lack of a relationship with my father has influenced my life in a very profound way. Without wishing to go into specifics, I was raised by a single mother and my father popped in and out of my life when he wanted. It made me realise the importance of being a great father to my children when I had them (I now have an 11 yr old daughter) being there for them no matter what and being a positive role model in their life.

I live for my family. My restored faith in Christ is helping me understand and recognise the need to not only forgive and love those who have caused hurt (my father) but more importantly to learn from those experiences. It's a cliche to say this, but although I'm relatively well read, I haven't based my life choices on successful authors, thinkers or pyschologists. Rather I have learnt from life's experiences, both good and bad and with the help of God (a Father who never let's you down) I have a sense of direction and purpose that goes beyond the natural.

If it's a positive influence that makes me think, challenges me and leads me to a better place, then I'm all for it :)

same here. my father and i had a bad relatoinship for years. from 1990 till 2 months ago.

those experiences along with my other life experiences are the key factors of how i view God, life, morality, the world around me, other people, everything.

it's just here lately within the past 2 years, i have been starting to read more. no where close to finished, or no where close to a successful start cause i get started with too much haha. i like to research and now i have the books that i want to get started (well one got delayed because the order got pushed back, next week tho).

That's nice to hear. Reconciliation between a parent and child can only be a positive thing. I pray God really strengthens and blesses your relationship :)
