Open Doors Prayer Thread

I am a member of this organisation, which for 50 years has been working to bring to the attention of the world persecuted Christians. Each month I am sent a daily prayer leaflet. I will endeavour to share it here.

Monday 7th November- Kenya

A young Muslim background believer taking refuge in Kenya shared with Open Doors: 'My safety is very insecure, because every Sunday when I want to go to church all my relatives come to me and they want to beat me. My relatives are all Muslims and Mullahs.' Ask God to give this man courage and strength as he constantly lives in fear.

I have had to go away as my dad is dangerously ill. Please pray, and I will get back to posting here when I return home.

Lord Jesus I lift up Abiel's Father in prayer to you now. Lord I ask that your healing hand will be upon him. Lord comfort him, be close and intimate with him in this time now I pray.

Wednesday 16th November: - Indonesia

In west Java as many as 70 churches have been forced to close in the last year due to islamic extremeists, who threaten the christians with violence. Pray for courage for the Christians to continue meeting and that the church would grow despite the setbacks.

Friday 18th November: - Vietnam

Praise God for the completion of the womens Priscilla Training Course with 28 students completing the two-year programme. Please pray for wisdom and courage for the students as they start their own bible training classes in their own churches.

Sunday 20th November: - China

In the first half of this year, Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF), Open Doors partner for children in China, arranged training courses for a church that had left the Three-Self-Patriotic movement. Pray for the 122 leaders and 42 new Sunday schools, that they would serve to establish young ones in China.

Monday 21st November-China

Praise God for the tremendous growth in the Chinese church but with growth comes a deperate need for Biblical training. Please pray for the training programmes run by our co-workers, that the church leaders would be rooted and built up in His word.

Father God,

I lift up China to your holy name now. Father I praise your name for the way you have blessed the church in it's radical growth over the past few years. Lord, bless those working out there in China now, the co-workers of OD and all those other serving you. Let the church leaders be working to their full effectiveness as your hand is upon them, protecting, providing and guiding them in their lives. May they be firmly rooted in the Lord Jesus Christ proclaiming the Gospel to it's fullest and most powerfull effect.

In your precious and worthy name Lord Jesus we ask this,

The Gulf
Tuesday 22 November- Iraq

Distribution of scriptures and other Christian material is still going on in Iraq. despite the risks. Please pray for safe delivery in various parts of the country, and particularly for the distribution of much-needed Kurdish Christian Literature.

Wednesday 23rd - IRAQ

Please continue to pray for Hamid Pourmand and his family. Pray that he may be a faithful and brave witness to other prisoners around him. Also pray for strength for his family and perseverence to trust the Lord in all the difficulties they have to face.

Middle East

Thursday 24 November - REGION

In the Middle east televesion is a useful medium for communicationg the gospel. Praise the Lord that OPen Doors has been able to begin producing Christian programs for satellite in Arabic as well as Farsi.

Saturday 26 November- Israel/Palastinian areas

Some 8000 Israelis had to leave Gaza this summer. Pray for them as they try to build up a new life and that their eyes will be opened to the truth that Jesus is the Messiah they are waiting for.

Monday 28th November Colombia

An upcoming youth workshop has been previously cancelled due to the frequent attacks by an armed group in the western region of the country so please pray that it will go ahead, A pastor's workshop also had to be cancelled because of violence.

Tuesday 29 November - Colombia

Join us in praising God for the way He has worked in the livesof Alex and Rocio Puerta. Please pray for the SSTS seminars and for the message of forgiveness through Jesus to spread throughout this country.

Homefront

Wednesday 30th - Latin America

Open Doors' co-workers Johannes from South Africa and Pastor Gabriel from Columbia are visiting the UK this month for a series of 50th anniversary talks. Please pray for strength and energy for them and that christians here would be encouraged to stand with our persecuted brothers and sisters.

Saturday 3rd December

It appears that the Muslim world wants to gain a foothold in Southern Sudan by means of relief projects. Millions of dollars were apparently allocated to these projects. Pray Christians will not exchange their eternal faith for temporary benefits.

Monday 5th December-Ethiopia

In an area where recently many people have come t know Jesus, Open Doors has been able to distribute 5000 Bibles. Pray that the Bibles will get into the hands of the right people, and that the new believers would have a hunger to read God's Word, and would be equipped to serve Him.
