  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Thanks WOF so much! I have heard it all before, but its always awesome to hear it again. I'm going to keep praying and pray for the best.

And... I'm shocked that you would say such a thing, styx! Of course people go to Hell. Why would someone bother to be a Christian if they wouldn't go to Hell otherwise? God is a loving, understanding, merciful, JUST God. Notice the emphasis on just. God loves everyone, and wants us all to come to him through his son, Christ Jesus. But, we can't get to heaven with sin, God won't allow it, ever. So, our only hope of getting into heaven is through the saving grace of Christ Jesus. His sacrifice made it possible for God to wipe our slates clean so we can get into heaven. But, you have to accept God's grace and mercy before you can be saved. And, those who are not saved must go somewhere when they die. Of course, they can't get into heaven with sin, so they have to go to hell, where they are tortured for the rest of eternity. Not a pretty thing, but it has to be done. People go to hell if they don't accept the loving mercy and grace of God through Jesus's death and resurrection. That's why we as Christians are to go out into the world and set the example, and put out the facts of life. We love, we teach, and we set the example.

That was a long one, but you get the point? Those who refuse God's grace have to go to hell. God doesn't want them to, but he's a just God, and we have to pay for our sins.

People do not go to hell, Sampson. Demons do. I'm going to give you a link, explaining the mistranslations and semimistranslations, and mistaking a valley in Israel where the bodies of criminals were burned... forgive me if the link doesn't work, my connection is really too slow to check tonight.

Being a Blood bought, Holy Spirit taught Christian I have to tell you that people most certainly will go to hell if they refuse the gift of salvation given to us through Christ our Lord. Demons do not GO to hell, they are FROM hell, they move about the earth, working the foul schemes of their master, Satan.

Demons are the fallen angels sent to hell with Lucifer after he led them in rebellion against God and his name was changed to Satan. They know their fate, just look at Matthew 8:28-29. Demons know Jesus, they just don't worship Him. Again, they KNOW Jesus and they know what's going to happen to them. Notice they said, "art thou come hither to torment us before the time?" The time they speak of is the judgement where Jesus will cast the Satan and all his servants and all those who have not relied on Him for salvation into the lake of fire, where they will burn for all eternity.

If the Bible says it I believe it, enough said.

I love talk of salvation and end times prophecy, but this is not the forum for it. Could you gents please take this conversation to another, more appropriate thread where many more can benefit from it? I'd appreciate it.

As for Consi business, where is everyone? Are we waiting on anyone in particular?

Thanks, WOF and Palidan! I was going to use the Bible, but I didn't have enough time at the moment to look anything up. I was going to go find a ton of stuff, but WOF summed it up well enough. Well said! But, you're right, this isn't really the place. Although, it's never the wrong time to witness. But not here, not now. Perhaps we shall find a better place to talk about this later.

And...I love talking about the end times. But... I guess this isn't the place for that either...

And...I was kinda wondering about the Consi as well. However, I think it can be attributed to Star's absence. She is very time-constrained at the moment, and will not be able to post for some time. She didn't say how long, but I'm guessing it could be a while.

One last thing. Styx, don't feel as if you have to answer this, but I was just wondering how you came to believe this and how you are alligned religiously. Again, no pressure, I'm just curious.

Here's the link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hell

I must stand by WOF and Sampson on this one. Also, Wikipedia is not always known for accuracy... check just who it was that wrote whatever you are trying to back.
He has it all backed up.

You yourself just made several comments on it.
If the Bible says it I believe it, enough said.
Do you also believe the writings that the Council of Hippo decided to leave out of the bible? What critera are you using to decide that everything in the bible is accurate? Because, I assume, you wouldn't take anything thing on blind... er, faith?
Demons do not GO to hell, they are FROM hell, they move about the earth, working the foul schemes of their master, Satan.
It probably would have been more accurate to say demons went TO hell and now live there. 'Course, I don't believe in demons either, and Satan is just a guy who does dirty work for god, like the Angel of Death... but we don't need to start anything on that...
The time they speak of is the judgement where Jesus will cast the Satan and all his servants and all those who have not relied on Him for salvation into the lake of fire, where they will burn for all eternity.
Too many contradictions >_< Why would demons go to hell as a punishment when you already believe that they live there...

That s'not very nice: 1.4 You will not directly state or otherwise imply that another member is not a Christian.

Seems a bit of a stupid rule, seeing that there are so many people with symbols that declare they aren't a Christian, but whatever. You must obey.
And I thought this was funny:
His one and only final exam question in May 1997 for his Momentum, Heat and Mass Transfer II class was: "Is hell exothermic or endothermic? Support your answer with proof." Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle's Law or some variant. One student, however, wrote the following:

First, we postulate that if souls exist, then they must have some mass. If they do, then a mole of souls can also have a mass. So, at what rate are souls moving into hell and at what rate are souls leaving? I think we can safely assume that once a soul gets to hell, it will not leave. Therefore, no souls are leaving.
As for souls entering hell, let's look at the different religions that exist in the world today. Some of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, then you will go to hell. Since there are more than one of these religions and people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all people and souls go to hell.
With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in hell to increase exponentially. Now, we look at the rate of change in volume in hell. Boyle's Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in hell to stay the same, the ratio of the mass of souls and volume needs to stay constant. Two options exist:

  1. If hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter hell then the temperature and pressure in hell will increase until all hell breaks loose.
  2. If hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in hell, then the temperature and pressure will drop untilhell freezes over.
So which is it? If we accept the quote given to me by Theresa Manyan during Freshman year, that "it will be a cold night in hell before I sleep with you" and take into account the fact that I still have NOT succeeded in having sexual relations with her, then Option 2 cannot be true... Thus, hell is exothermic.

Oops, my bad! Although, I'm going to have to point out to you that there are some Christians out there who have stranger beliefs than anything I can explain.

As for one last thing before this conversation is over, I just want to say that I've done a small bit of research on the bible. From what I have learned, the canon has been produced through many, many years of hard, sometimes troubling work. There are many canons for the bible, and therefore my canon may be different than someone elses here. But, the basis for all this canon inclusion of books is whether or not the book was divinely inspired. And, I also can not think of a way to disprove the Bible's Truth, so we're definitely not taking it on blind faith.

But then again, blind faith is an interesting topic. We take something to be true based on Faith, not on facts alone. Facts are merely what we can employ to further enhance our faith. I can't think of any facts that can disprove Christianity, so it is most definitely not blind faith, but it is. Ah! This is too hard!

Okay, that was confusing. But here's some more. I did some good research last night, and I found some interesting things from the Bible. I have to admit, it startled me a bit. As I looked, I found out that the word Hell actually refers to a valley in Isreal where a city was plundered and burned, and ever after retained its burning, sulfery, bad aura. They simply used this place as a symbol for the terribleness of Hades, or Sheol.

But, in all, I still believe that people who do not believe in Christ and God go to Hell. I must note that in that proof the student did not ever think of the possibility that Hell might not be constrained to the stupid principles of our world. Who ever said that Hell would be like our world with time and space and matter? There could be a completely set of different rules. For why I think this could be true, look into the string theory and read The Elegant Universeby Briane Greene. (i might not have spelled his name right, but that is his name.) It has some very interesting things.

Whoa, off topic. Anyways, let's forget this and get back to RPG'ing. We can talk about this somewhere else.

I'd like to think this would be my legacy when I leave.

However, not everything is meant to last. If it must die, then it must die. It served its orginal purpose and apparently has not survived the winter. If all involved do not wish to trudge on, then let the thread die in peace.

okay... *looking* Found it. Sorry, I don't feel like typing. Here's what I suggested.

I know this is ambitious, but what say you that we somehow quicken the war, and we go down south and meet the Consi again? It would give something for your wonderful Kalt to do, and I would like something for Borkeau to do too.

Perhaps we could quick win the war(there's no one stopping us is there?) and head down and start conquering the area around them and find them down there.

Of course, now that I look, it would be hard to find them since they're in a cave...

NTY. I would much rather have KH leading Ember. Besides, his chances of mosying down into the underdark is highly unlikely.;) I can see it now... "Gutentag, Frau Sathria!" "Kalt-Hammer?! What are you doing here?!!!!" "(in german, of course)Oh, I just came to see the caves and the cute little Drow elves. How about you?"

LOL!!! Oh my God....that's funny...

Sathria, dashing and epic, "Oh...I came for the view...you know. The dank and dark is in this season."
"(in german) Of course it is! What sort of King do you take me for? I ONLY come to the NICEST and dankest caves I can you know...quite proper indeed..."

Apparently Kalt is Brittish now...;) :D That's my sad attempt at humor...NEXT...;)
