That's funny because your opinion does seem to stem from scripture where as I have shown you where my opinion comes from by stating many different scriptures.

The Salvation Army holds many positive attributes however there are some teachings which they have which contradict the bible. One of which is that they have women ministers / teachers.

1 Timothy 2:12
I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent.

No church is perfect, not even yours!!!

And there is nothing wrong with woman preachers and teachers, I have come across many excellent ones in my time :)

Got to love it when people (usually selfrightious men) pull the above verse out of context :D

Out of context? Are you joking?

What is it supposedly "in context" then? I look forward to your answer!

And here is another, I hope this one isn't "out of context" as well...

1 Corinthians 14:34
women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says.

Looks pretty self explanatory to me.

.........................................................................................

Indeed no Church is perfect because no person is perfect.

That line of argument however is silly, if no church is perfect, why not just join any church, no matter what the teachings are?

Join a church which follows the teachings of the bible (God's living word).

.........................................................................................

And there is nothing wrong with woman preachers and teachers, I have come across many excellent ones in my time

The bible says there is, now are you disagreeing with that?

Once again, you avoid posting scripture to back up your views, that's because you have none as your going against what scripture teaches.

You are picking out single verses, taking them totally out of context, interpreting them to meet your own agenda.

Rest assured if I were ever to go back to church I would pick the Sal v over your church any day :)

But you are taking this thread way off topic - the subject matter being online churches, if you wish to discuss women preachers start your own thread in the appropriate place :)

I tried an online church some years ago when we lived in the country. It worked for a while but I found it could not replace a congregation. That one was based in Oxford, England and was called i-church, I think. Am not sure what it is called now. Wherever you go on or off line you'll find churches are made up of people and not perfect. peace and prayers..

Its still called i-church and is an excellent online church, I have been a member there for a while now :)

fm107 wouldn't approve though, being run as it is by a woman preacher :p

Well I'm not surprised it's run by a woman.

At the end of the day, I was only trying to offer advice based on scripture.

Though I pity you, you claim those verses are out of context yet you cannot back this accusation up.

Offer me advice - you couldn't take no for an answer when you were told your advice was not appreciated! Not that I was actually looking for advice in the first place, my OP was asking about online churches.

I might add that i-church is backed by one of the main UK denominations and its preacher is ordained as such - slander her all you like, it just makes you look bad at the end of the day :(

If I had a mind to back these verses I could, but as I have already said it is outwith the scope of this thread, and I would rather it got back to the OP which was what I wished to discuss hence starting the thread topic!

How loving is that? Me giving you advice when you didn't even ask. You should be thanking me!

It doesn't matter what man or group backs an I-Church, what matters is if God backs it. And scripture makes clear he doesn't back it.

If you don't want to distort the thread by backing up your claims then send me a visitors message with your reasoning. I bet you can't and won't.

I think I'm done with this thread now. Just try to reconsider this route your taking, that's all I ask - scripture clearly shows that we should be meeting physically.

I mean, you can't greet one another with a holy kiss online can you?

2 Corinthians 13:12
Greet one another with a holy kiss.

I don't think you are considering the many people who are physically unable to attend church. If you were housebound and ill, would you want to be deprived of spiritual guidance, teachings, or inspirations? There is a place for the online church, which may not meet the narrowly defined parameters some people place on traditional churches, but which fulfills a great need.

Church is what we are not somewhere we go. The church gathered does not need to be complicated or institutionalized in order to be fulfilling.

One thought I have for you to consider is simply to invite christian friends over to your home. Plan to have a potluck so you can share communion, and then have a time of seeking God together and building one another up as God leads.

If that is not possible for you, then another something that I just remembered from back in the day is Paltalk.com (free live audio and/or video chat rooms). It was countless years ago but I used to enjoy some christian chat rooms there where people were really engaging God and one another, worshiping, etc.. There may be this same function in the skype realm or other similar services too, though I haven't explored skype beyond one on one chat.. IRC is another channel for finding deeper community experience, but paltalk and skype etc I think take it to the next level because of the audio/video capacity..

edit: just did a search and christian chat dot com looks like it could be a possibility for you.. To me, chatting at least takes the experience a bit deeper than forums.. Not that I am one to go chatting online. But I would if I couldn't find any other form of community...

i-church is one to avoid, unless you are gay. It was quite good at the beginning, but then there was a revolution at its political centre. Now it is very condemnative if you are not extremely, and narrowly, politically correct.
If, however, you are gay, this is the home for you.

Can anyone recommend any online churches, or even just know of any?

There is a voice/chat software called inSpeak (unfortunately, it does not work with iMac) but it is free and has no adware, spyware, malware, nothing harmful to your computer. There are several Christian rooms available.
(I do not go to the Christian rooms, I join in the Messianic Believer's rooms) but I would imagine that the Christian are similar: live service feeds where you the listener can even join in with comments/questions, study classes, music, chat and the like.

The Lord will provide you with a solution if you listen to his message. God Bless and I hope you find what you are searching for.

That is utter slander and your allegations are unfounded, I have been a member there for a while!

Not that there is anything wrong with being gay!
