one verse for the trinity?

Does anyone here really think the early Christians didn't know how to count to three? As RZ says, Peter knew how to count to three fishes, and Paul new how to count. Jesus said if you know me, you know the Father, and then there are the verses where Jesus said he would send the spirit. I'm not sure why this is that difficult.

After a long list of verses about Jesus, we have this general assumption. A three-legged stool can't stand on two legs. If the Holy Spirit is not God, the trinity is automatically false. Strong in Him says that because the Spirit is "of God" then it must be God. However, we all learned in elementary school that if someone possesses something, it cannot be what it possesses. My son is not me. So the Spirit OF God can't be God. It is His Spirit. Add to this the many times the work "the" has been inserted in most modern translations even though it is not in the greek just to give the impression that God's holy spirit is THE Holy Spirit. Classic trinitarian tactics. in the modern world, we call it Identity theft. No one even cares who the Almighty God the Father is now--just Jesus and the Spirit.

How many times did Jesus call Himself - I AM?

And the Holy Spirit of God will teach them everything...IE - a Teacher.

If we are to be filled with the Holy Spirit - then what - if He is not God?
How is it a Being can remind the choosen men of God - if He is not God and not living?

Have you found one verse in the Bible that clearly teaches the trinity? All three persons God, yet one being? A doctrine that important should be clearly taught all over the Bible. But I'll be satisfied with just one verse OR, if you care to, you could show me one major teaching of the Bible that is NOT clearly taught repeatedly.

If you had read my previous posts, you would know that I said I was going to take a break from this forum for a while. That is why I didn't get back to you.

If you looked at the symbol by my name, you would also know that I am female.

Have you found one verse in the Bible that clearly teaches the trinity?

Have you told us why you think this, or any, doctrine has to be taught in just ONE verse?

It is.

No you won't. You've been given more than one verse; you don't want to accept them.

You might be happy if there was one verse that used the word Trinity, or if Jesus said; "God is a trinity." Although maybe not. You are trying to argue that the concept and doctrine don't exist because that one particular word is not used.

There is no verse that says that blood transfusions are forbidden, yet JWs - if that is what you are - believe that to be a Scriptural teaching.

Er wait a minute - one minute you want ONE verse to prove the trinity, the next you are saying that major doctrines and truths about God are taught over and over again in the Bible.

God is one; there is only one God, there is no other god but God, no other Saviour but the Lord. He is the first and the last, the Alpha and Omega - eternal God, who was present in the beginning and before the beginning. He alone is God; there is no other.

Yet it is clear from Scripture that God is Father; the word of God, who became flesh, Jesus, is God; and the Spirit is also divine and eternal. Three divine beings - but there is only ONE God.

I can give you all the verses that show what I am saying, if you wish.
As long as you are prepared to genuinely consider them, and not come with a lot of preconceived ideas; determined to shoot them down in flames because that is what you have been taught to do.

The trinity is a Christian doctrine. It is expressed and summed up in the Nicene creed. Many groups and cults which reject the Trinity are not considered mainstream Christian denominations, or part of the Christian church. I am pretty sure a person is not meant to display a Christian icon by their name on this forum, if they don't accept the creed.

I'm sorry, it appears you have missed my point. maybe if you read the whole thread, it will make more sense. Every major teaching is CLEARLY taught throughout the Bible--not inferred or alluded to. The trinity is at best INFERRED in a few places, not explicitly stated. Your post perfectly illustrated what "infer" means--(Father, Son and H.S. are divine, therefore, they MUST BE one God.)

Just to clarify, it doesn't bother me that the word "trinity" is not in the Bible. It's just a label. It is the teaching I need to see. It clearly and explicitly says Jesus is God's Son, and that the Father is Jesus' God (The almighty cannot call anyone "my God").

Also, I have "genuinely considered" verses about the trinity. I viciously defended it as you do till about 8 years ago. I was a Baptist missionary for years. Things are not always as they seem.
