• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I am thankful for my writing skills. I wrote my first poem around the age of seven. I wrote one from time to time after that. I always wanted to write a novel and started one around the age of twenty three.
I got a thing in the mail to take an aptitude test for the Institute of Children's Literature. I took the test out of curiosity to see what level I was at. When I got my results, it was a congratulations on my passing a test that only a third of the people who take it pass. I was soooo excited! I started taking the course and had the intentions of writing for teenagers. I figured my life experiences could be put into book form as lessons for teenagers to learn by. Unfortunately, my financial status became nil, so I had to drop the course.
But, on the upside, I got another thing in the mail not long after, and it read: "To you, the poet." I laughed it off and threw it in the trash and said: "Poet?!, I'm not a poet!"
To my surprise, just about two months later, I started writing poetry and have written it ever since. I now have well over three hundred written and have posted some on poetry soup and am hoping to get a book together from there.
That's another good thing that has derived from this illness. The many mood swings as well as the severity of my ups and downs has helped inspire some of my best poetry.
So, yeah.........that's another thing I am really thankful for.
Sorry I was so long-winded bout that one.:sorry:
