I am thankful for a husband who has stood by me and loved me for 20 years.

I'm thankful for my family... especially my mother. If it wasn't for her realizing that my real father was probably bi-polar (which ultimately led to his death)... I may not be doing as good as I am. I'm also thankful for my boyfriend who has stuck by me when he saw me at my worst. I am lucky enough to have an amazing support system behind me so I am thankful for that too.

I am thankful for my computer.

I live in isolation and if I didn't have a computer, I would be alone. I wouldn't have learned that not all people are like the one who hurt me and want me to be alone.

I am thankful for my sense of humour.

Humour is one of my defenses and it helps me deal with tough situations. I enjoy making people laugh.

I am thankful that I am multiple.

My therapist told me I have MPD because when I was a child, I was trying to cope with some bad things the best I could. I could have died or gone mad, but I have the 'gift' of dissociation. I am still trying to learn how to deal with this, but every day I am learning not to be so afraid.
