One Language or Not ? ?

Hello:

I am new to this forum and hope this is posted in the correct area. As a born again believer, I believe the Bible is the true Word of God. Sometime someone will say things or show me something that I have diffucult answering. Case in point. A muslim friend was working and did not have time to stop and talk, so he past me a slip of paper with the following scripture Geneis 10:5 reference " The descendants became . ...." each with a separate Language". I return it a few minutes later with added verese -v20 ". . .in many lands and nations, with many languages". v31 . . classified according to their political groupings, languages, and etc. and Genesis 11:1, to let him know I know where he is going with this.

That was his move, now its my turn to give him the explaination . . I need Help !
Genesis 11:1 At that time all mankind spoke a single language. v7 . . Come, let us go down and give them different languages . . . .

He wants to show that the Bible countradict itself saying in Chapter 11 they all spoke the same language, but in Chapter 10 the descendants spoke different languages. Could someone help me explain that.

I looked up the Hebrew words in Gen 10 and Gen 11 , they are different
tongue and language/speech are two diffent words/ meanings
this maybe where many folks fail to look into , and some times makes all the difference ,

the Word of God is never countradictory to those whom look beyond the surface and dig in deep into His Word ,

many will not accept the Truth , and its a sad thing to me

The word babel /babylon mixing / confusion also means ''gate of God '' and there is the big clue to me
and because many religions dont believe in Jesus Christ as being the Word of God ,

Truth, Way, Life and STILL are still trying to get up into Heaven by that gate /babel or

some other way than Jesus Christ , only to fail /fall from the high places of self exalting /pride etc .

one clue to me that helped to see Jesus as the Way /TRUTH & LIFE into Heaven

was in the old / new covenants only to be seen with the new eyes /ears & heart given by the Lord [perceiving ]

Jacob saw the Lord Jesus as the Ladder [way] in the dream the Lord gave him


Gen 28:12 And he dreamed, and behold /SEE! Percieve a ladder set up on the earth,

and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it.
ladder is hebrew cullam / from root word calal 5549 to lift up , exalt , esteem highly
and we Know Jesus told us /them when the Son of Man is lifted up will draw all men unto Himself ..
in john3:14 and John 8 :28

Jhn 1:51 And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open,

and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.
this is probably not the answer you are seeking , its not a simple factual explaination ,

it takes faith believing and also seeking with your whole heart ,

to be comforted in the answers the Good Lord gives us ,

that satifies the hunger /thirst to know the Truth and His righteousness in our souls and sweep clean the conscience

The Hebrew language is quite unique. Here is how it is word for word.
This word "lip" is used for the first time in Gene 11:1. One would imply they became "lipless". Interesting as I never noticed the wording of this before.
