Right, in fact, there was in my post
As a separate issue:
How would you justify the term
regeneration from the Bible verses?
Because I perceive you are probably a serious student of the Bible I do not want to risk writing a long response of things you already know. But I will speak some of what I have learned about
"regeneration".
The word is used in two senses in the New Testament.
1.) There is the sense in which it is the new birth of the spirit.
2.) And there is the sense that it is a
restoration as for instance, in the millennial kingdom of one thousand years.
I would include a sense of a renewing process over one's entire Christian walk, if that walk is normal and not abnormal.
First #1 -
"Regenerated" as the new birth, the born again experience:
First Peter 1:23 -
Having been regenerated not of corruptible seed but of incorruptible, through the living and abiding word of God.
I believe this is synonomous with being
born again, born of the Spirit, or born from above as the Lord spoke in John chapter 3.
Receiving the living word of God, the living God was born into us for an abiding unto eternity.
Through His word He was planted into our innermost spiritual being as a incorruptible seed of divine life.
Second #2 -
"Regeneration" as a washing and renewing over a long period of time. And the "regeneration" of the millennial kingdom.
Titus 3:5 - . . . He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and the renewing of the Holy Spirit,
This is a renewing process over time. Rather than instantaneous conception and birth it is a renewing washing over time.
Thoughout the normal Christian life there should be a continual washing and renewal of a godly character which is the constant work of the Holy Spirit. It saves us over the whole course of our spiritual life washing away the defects of the fallen nature.
The only other place this word in Greek (which can translate to regeneration) is used is in Matthew 19:28.
Matt. 19:28 - And Jesus said to them, Truly I say to you that you who have followed Me, in the restoration [regeneration], when the Son of Man sits on the throne of His glory, you also shall sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
During the one thousand years the earth will be RESTORED. This period Jesus called "the restoration". It is the same Greek word as in Titus 3:5
This too is a process carried out over a long period of time.
We people of God need all three regenerations.
We need to be begotten again, born again in our spirit - regenerated.
We need a normal life long regeneration and washing renewing of our soul throughout our sojourn before the Lord returns.
And we need to enter into the reward of the millennial period in which the restoration [regeneration] of the earth takes place.
Some believers will be rewarded to participate in that regeneration which is called the restoration.
That is because they were born again AND obeyed with cooperation to have washing of regeneration over their souls.
Some who have been born again but neglected the continual washing of the Holy Spirit during their Christian life, may be disciplined
to not take part in the millennial period. Instead of receive this
reward they will be learning some lessons at that time which they SHOULD have learned during the church age. This will be a suffering of
loss even though they are still eternally
saved.
The work of each will become manifest; for the day will declare it, because it is revealed by fire, and the fire itself will prove each one’s work, of what sort it is. If anyone’s work which he has built upon the foundation remains, he will receive a reward;
If anyone’s work is consumed, he will suffer loss, but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire. ( 1 Cor. 3:13-15)
