Yes --- sorry --- I meant WW1, not WW2.
OK. I guess they knew that the Ottoman Empire was in decline and that they probably wouldn't be able to hold their periphery.

Good --- I'm glad --- aren't you? Don't you think it was about time Israel had their homeland back, Mr United Nations?
My opinion is irrelevant. You are claiming that the creation of Israel was a fulfilled prophecy. I showed you that the politicians back then did it only in order to fulfill this prophecy.

Good deal --- wouldn't want the good boys at the UN to think badly of you, now would you?

You are claiming that the creation of Israel was a fulfilled prophecy.

Yup --- Amos 9 --- to be exact.

[bible]Amos 9:15[/bible]

I showed you that the politicians back then did it only in order to fulfill this prophecy.

Good --- do we agree it was fulfilled then?

I don't think you understand how prophecies get fulfilled, do you?
Many times they are done by human hands, motivated by decisions made behind closed doors.

Whether it be Artaxerxes allowing Nehemiah to go back and build the wall of Jerusalem, or the Sanhedrin covenating with Judas for 30 pieces of silver.

I agree, I would say that it does happen behind closed doors, the doors of scribes and other various writers writing exactly what their superiors told them to. Writing was the only way to preserve knowledge, therefore, whoever controlled what was written dictated reality.
With the advent of evidence based sciences, this is no longer possible.

In the same way that cook book prophecies are fulfilled. In my cook book it says that I should mix one cup of flour with 2 eggs and a quarter cup of milk. Sure enough, I did it. Prophecy fulfilled.

Scribes didn't write prophecies --- they re-wrote what was already written down by their God-inspired human authors.

Writing was the only way to preserve knowledge, therefore, whoever controlled what was written dictated reality.

And so the authors of the Gospels dictated their own controlled persecutions?

And for the second time (this is a good question), should the Rapture occur in your lifetime, are you going to claim it was a self-fulfilled prophecy?
If the Rapture happens in my lifetime, then I will eat my hat.

Take 4000 years with multiple authors writing the recipe to produce that cake, and you might have something.

So far, the OP challenge has not been met.
Course is hasn't. No thread challenging creationists to produce positive evidence will ever yield any such thing....However, on the offchance that they ARE right, three of are willing to eat our hats.

If I read this with the same Biblical Literalism you would have me read Genesis 1 & 2, we must call the prophecy unfulfilled. As of yet, Jews have settled Israel, but not a single Jewish settler has been planted...

Technically you are wrong. They are planted about 6 feet underground after they die. :D

Yes, but have any been exhumed for any purpose? If so, prophecy is wrong. Interesting...

I didn't even understand this.

As the others say, I don't believe you. It's very simple. We can agree that the prophecy was fulfilled - of course. But we can also agree that it was fulfilled because of the prophecy - the prophecy wasn't made because it was going to be fulfilled.

If I make some prophecy, say, "You will eat cornflakes tomorrow," tell it to you and then you think to yourself, "I know, to make FishFace feel good, I'll go and fulfill that prophecy" then does that in any way mean I have some special power of prophecy? No, because I didn't work out that you were going to eat cornflakes, I just made a wild guess and you decided to humour me.

Not really. If 4000 authors wrote the recipe book, they still don't have any special powers in predicting that the recipe will be followed.

Well, that would be a PLUS for the BIBLE's side. The recipe was predicted and followed to this very day.
