im thinking your mabey talking about an expression?

im on fire for god = im passionate or something like that with god

kinda like up the river with a paddle. i dont really know though.

im not sure about the "doesn't God know what the desires of my heart are? Why should I have to tell him." part. i think mabey by telling them to god your reminding yourself or him that you believe in god and believe he is listening. mabey it has something to do with humbling yourself to god and aknoledging that he is more powerful then you.

these are just my thoughts now. i dont really know if any of them are true. i am actually lost myself. ive thought about this before to.

I think that there is one about how paul had fire for God. Would you say that you are on "fire" for God? And if so what is it.

When people say someone is "on fire for God", they are basically saying that they see that he/she is totally committed to God. If you want to know if you are, just ask yourself if you are totally committed to God's Word: do you seek God with all your heart and soul (Deu 4:29), do you study and meditate on Him and His Word (2 Tim 2:15), do you obey His commands (Deu 11:27,28), do people see that you are different from the rest of the world (1 Pet 2:9), do you have a relationship with Him (John 17:3) As for myself; yes I am!

Jesus spoke to the Churches in Revelations, and to the Church of Laodicea He said: "I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot.
So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue you out of My mouth." (Rev.3:15, 16)
These are hard words to consider - Hot or cold - which is with us? Being on fire, is as the others have said, is passion and desire for the Lord and not this world. The prophet Jeremiah said, "But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones." (Jer. 20:9) Jeremiah could not help but tell others of the fire in His heart for doing the will of God in his life. Evidently God wants us to have more passion for Him than just luke warm. Luke warm may be a sign of hypocrisy - of using His name, but not really doing what He commands. So, each person has to answer for themselves and define what luke warm is when they know who God is but have no zeal or enthusiasm for the things of God.

Being on fire for God to me means being really passionate about Him. It's not about filling some quota of Bible reading or prayer, it's about being so in love with Him that I can't wait to read His Word or talk to Him. It's hard to describe unless you've felt it yourself.

As for why do I talk to Him when he already know's everything, it's the process. A good example I read that I thought was good is this...your best friend wins first prize in track, you hear about it from someone else, but when she comes to tell you about it you don't say, don't bother, so-and-so already told me, no, you enjoy the moment with her. Or if her boyfriend broke up with her, and a friend already told you about it, when she comes to tell you about it you still be there and comfort her. It's the same way with God, sure He knows, but that doesn't mean He doesn't want to share your happy and sad moments with you.

I've started not to like that expresson. "On fire for God." Perhaps I associate it with emotions.

I believe that "being on fire for God" is being truly devoted. It's about wanting what He wants, following Him, declaring Him to others, even when you don't feel like it.

Please be careful not to associate it with a feelings. Most of the time you won't "feel" on fire. It has to be a choice that you make and follow.

The hymn goes:

Give me oil for my lamp keep me burning.
Give me oil in my lamp I pray.
Give me oil in my lamp keep me burning.
Keep me burning to the break of day.

That is from the parable of the ten virgins in Matthew 25.

Also from II Timothy 1:6

For which cause I remind you to fan into the flame the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands.

We have the Spirit within. When we care for the Spirit and live by the Spirit we fan into flame the gift within and are burning for the Lord. If, by the cross, we deny our soul-life and live by the Spirit, then we will have plenty of oil in our lamps in the day of the Lord.

Ok, have you ever met someone who couldn't stop talking about someone or something constantly? Well you can say that that person is on fire for that something.

You know how some people get so excited, so upbeat, so talkative? Well that's being called on fire. It's almost like when you met your first love, you can't stop talking about him/her, you can't stop thinking about him/her. You know that feeling? It's the same with God. You're passionate about that person, you're like so in love with that person.

In the bible a lot of times, it talks about fire as judgement also, but when people say it now a days, it talks about passion. Even in some songs they have the word fire in it.

"SEND THE FIRE"
or
in one of Charle Hall's songs.
"Send us with fire to go love the world...."

So go out there with fire now that you know what fire means. LOL

the bible says that God he makes his ministers flames of fire. or ministers of flames, sorry i cant quote it.
the bible speaks of angels or, cherubims and seraphims, but in the hebrew those words literallly mean BURNING ONES.

Peter cried out and said, "I CANNOT SHUT UP! ITS LIKE FIRE SHUT UP IN MY BONES!"

ive seen preachers, and then ive seen preachers who seem to be crasy, but if you look into their eyes you can see the fire burning in them. its the diffrence between preaching out of your spirit in the unction of the holyspirit, and preaching out of the rescources of your intellect. one burns and brings new life, one is dead and only brings more death.

you can tell a man who is on fire for God, he doesnt really care what you or me thinks, he sometimes goes into fits and does things that only he God understands or those like him, and you can see something blazing in his eyes.
hes caught the flame, becuase he had a encounter with all mighty God and was burned and branded.

its what makes men who are scared and timid, turn and look at the ruling lies of the day and say " come, meet me on the mountain and well see whos God answers by fire:" and he has the power to call down fire from heavon, and turn and kill the lies of the day!

its the people we dont like to hang around, because they dont comfort us and we are exposed in their presence. they might not say it, but they dont have too.

I think that being "on fire" is being so in love with God that you're anxious to spend as much time in His Presence as possible.

It seems like the prayer thing is kind of similar. God knows what we need before we ask Him. But He wants to have a relationship with us. When we pray, we come into His presence and learn that God is the only One who can satisfy our needs. It seems like praying teaches us to depend totally on God and to stop trying to do things in our own strength.

1 Thessalonians 5:19
Do not put out the Spirit's fire;

I like this verse because it says that our natural state is to have the Spirit's fire within us and it will not get snuffed out unless we put it out ourselves.

Hebrews 1:7
In speaking of the angels he says, "He makes his angels winds, his servants flames of fire."

Are you the Lord's servant? Then you should be on fire! Oww, I'm hot, don't touch this.

About being "on fire." A big part of it is who is fueling the flames? Are you trying to get into the Word and pray because it's good for you? Or are you doing those things because you are seeking after God with all you got. Are you loving God with all your heart, mind and soul? Being on fire comes from one thing and one thing only: Your desire to know God better. And when you've got that desire, he fills you up and fuels your flame. But if you're going to church, reading the Bible, and praying because it's the Christian thing to do and you want to be a good Christian, it's like artificial fuel. It's not from God, it's your own efforts. It's like eating an artificial apple. YUCK! It comes only from God filling you ever growing desire to grow closer and deeper with him. :)
