but surely God is separate from science just as a baker is separate from his bread because if God created everything he created science too!

-- I'm a little unsure of what you're saying. It sounds to me like you are saying that God is both separate and not separate from science. Certainly, God the Creator is not to be confused with His creation. He isn't a tree, or a rock, or whatever. There is evidence, however, of God in what He has made and in this respect He is not completely separate from His creation. This is true in the realm of science, as well.
