I believe His word, I just don't believe the Genesis stories are literal and inerrant. Literal inerrancy as an hermenuetic is nothing but a politically motivated corruption of the inspired Word of God, an insult to all those who believe the Scriptures to be true.Just as Jesus Says about all of His Word - reject Jesus , reject His Word. Believe Jesus, Believe His Word.
Literal inerrancy as an hermenuetic is nothing but a politically motivated corruption of the inspired Word of God,
So you believe the bible, just not cover to cover where it talks of the creation of God. Maybe you should be more precise and say you believe in a few flowery verses only? How about Sodom, do you believe that one?I believe His word, I just don't believe the Genesis stories are literal and inerrant.
Did Jesus tell us to worship hermeneutics? It seems heretics might be a better word there. To claim that the creation and first man and woman is 'politically motivated' is to blaspheme Jesus that showed Scripture was signed sealed and delivered to man by God. Now you come along and claim the amazon delivery guy was driving a hermanutic and a paid political operative. Total fantasy.Literal inerrancy as an hermenuetic is nothing but a politically motivated corruption of the inspired Word of God, an insult to all those who believe the Scriptures to be true.

Of course there is. It's a ploy to drive from the faith all but biblical Evangelicals. It has no other use but that.
Yeah, we've all heard that argument. "Jesus quotes Genesis. He wouldn't quote Genesis unless He believed it was literal and inerrant. Therefore Jesus believed it was literal and inerrant. QED." What we really learn from Jesus is that Scripture is the true and authoritative Word of God. We learn nothing from Him about literal inerrancy. That's not what Jesus Says.
“This is God’s Message, the God who made earth, made it livable and lasting, known everywhere as God: ‘Call to me and I will answer you. I’ll tell you marvelous and wondrous things that you could never figure out on your own.’Yeah, we've all heard that argument. "Jesus quotes Genesis. We don't learn anything about literal inerrancy from that passage, either.Better ask Him
“This is God’s Message, the God who made earth, made it livable and lasting, known everywhere as God: ‘Call to me and I will answer you. I’ll tell you marvelous and wondrous things that you could never figure out on your own.’
Agreed. Geochemistry is not the Creator. But it can tell us things like the age of geological structures, where the basalt in an area came from and geological relationships between different areas for instance. It can even let us know that some crazy idea that a 2 day old rock is really much, much older than that. As mentioned, geochemistry is also showing the Yellowstone Hot Spot played a significant part in the development of the geology here in the Pacific Northwest. It's a very useful tool for geologist. And it's widely used with confidence.Sorry you missed it. Here is the deal. Geochemistry is not the creator any more than the radioactive decay process was. Anything else?
Right. Faith in the literal inerrancy of Genesis. The only faith you have or care about. I see no evidence that you have any other faith, not even faith in Christ. You just accept Christ because it says so in your literal and inerrant Bible.“This is God’s Message, the God who made earth, made it livable and lasting, known everywhere as God: ‘Call to me and I will answer you.
I’ll tell you marvelous and wondrous things that you could never figure out on your own.’
Although He very well might not answer someone who doesn't ask in Faith, Trusting.
Except that Adam was created and then Eve from him and etc etc etc How about Sodom?I believe all of it. Cover to cover.
Who cares what land masses were moved in separating the waters from the land? Are you suggesting that basalt or anything else could not have come from another area!? The reasons things are where they are is a question that the naturalyonlydunnit crowd are not aware of.Agreed. Geochemistry is not the Creator. But it can tell us things like the age of geological structures, where the basalt in an area came from and geological relationships between different areas for instance.
No, it can tell us ratios. That does not tell us whether the rock was created a few days ago by God or not. Why repeat the same mistake? It can even let us know that some crazy idea that a 2 day old rock is really much, much older than that.
Having a hot spot move or affect other areas has nothing to do with your misdating a 2 day old rock by billions of years. As mentioned, geochemistry is also showing the Yellowstone Hot Spot played a significant part in the development of the geology here in the Pacific Northwest. It's a very useful tool for geologist. And it's widely used with confidence.
Zircon is a mineral, not a rock. However, it normally occurs in igneous rocks, and its age is the age of the igneous rock in which it crystallised.Something else that's not being considered is the history of the rock. What kind of rock is it? Is it igneous? Sedimentary? Metamorphic? You know, science stuff that can tell us a lot about the rock and where it came from.
It is not a problem for me to look at the natural. The only problem is when you look at nothing else
But what that means is another story. In context here it means the age you embed in your head instead of reality and what we had from creation.
