  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm a new member who just registered tonight. The reason I'm along this path is because I'm really struggling with the possibility of joining another denomination. My family is deadset on this church, but I'm hesitant because of my background.

I have been reared as a Baptist and believe in eternal salvation. This is an antagonistic view of the Methodist discipline.

We've been considering joining a Methodist church, mainly because of the youth group...and I, as well as my family, really like the church.

I've worn myself out looking at the diffrences between the Calvinist and Arminian view. Can anyone help me make sense of it all???

Not sure if I should do this..but I'm going to. My e-mail adress is bandhmartin@cox.net. I hope to hear from some of you folks...if not through the forum, please e-mail me.
