I can only thing of one verse (maybe 2) that says that the Messiah would be God incarnate, God in the flesh. Can you all tell me anything more about this? Are there more verses?

Isaiah 9 (NIV)
6 For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, [1] Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Micah 5.2 says that he would be from days of eternity, (literal translation).

Micah 5
2 "But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,
though you are small among the clans [1] of Judah,
out of you will come for me
one who will be ruler over Israel,
whose origins [2] are from of old,
from ancient times. [3] "

Footnotes
  1. 5:2 Or rulers
  2. 5:2 Hebrew goings out
  3. 5:2 Or from days of eternity

H4899 Mashiyach, maw-shee'-akh; from 4886; anointed; usually a consecrated
person (as a king, priest, or saint); spec. the Messiah:-anointed,
Messiah.

+------------------------------------------------------------------------------+
38 verses found.
LEV 4:3 If the priest that is <anointed> do sin according to the sin of the
people; then let him bring for his sin, which he hath sinned, a young
bullock without blemish unto the LORD for a sin offering.
LEV 4:5 And the priest that is <anointed> shall take of the bullock's blood,
and bring it to the tabernacle of the congregation:
LEV 4:16 And the priest that is <anointed> shall bring of the bullock's blood
to the tabernacle of the congregation:
LEV 6:22 And the priest of his sons that is <anointed> in his stead shall
offer it: [it is] a statute for ever unto the LORD; it shall be
wholly burnt.
1SA 2:10 The adversaries of the LORD shall be broken to pieces; out of heaven
shall he thunder upon them: the LORD shall judge the ends of the
earth; and he shall give strength unto his king, and exalt the horn
of his <anointed>.
1SA 2:35 And I will raise me up a faithful priest, [that] shall do according
to [that] which [is] in mine heart and in my mind: and I will build
him a sure house; and he shall walk before mine <anointed> for ever.
1SA 12:3 Behold, here I [am]: witness against me before the LORD, and before
his <anointed>: whose ox have I taken? or whose *** have I taken? or
whom have I defrauded? whom have I oppressed? or of whose hand have I
received [any] bribe to blind mine eyes therewith? and I will restore
it you.
1SA 12:5 And he said unto them, The LORD [is] witness against you, and his
<anointed> [is] witness this day, that ye have not found ought in my
hand. And they answered, [He is] witness.
1SA 16:6 And it came to pass, when they were come, that he looked on Eliab,
and said, Surely the LORD'S <anointed> [is] before him.
1SA 24:6 And he said unto his men, The LORD forbid that I should do this thing
unto my master, the LORD'S <anointed>, to stretch forth mine hand
against him, seeing he [is] the <anointed> of the LORD.
1SA 24:10 Behold, this day thine eyes have seen how that the LORD had delivered
thee to day into mine hand in the cave: and [some] bade [me] kill
thee: but [mine eye] spared thee; and I said, I will not put forth
mine hand against my lord; for he [is] the LORD'S <anointed>.
1SA 26:9 And David said to Abishai, Destroy him not: for who can stretch forth
his hand against the LORD'S <anointed>, and be guiltless?
1SA 26:11 The LORD forbid that I should stretch forth mine hand against the
LORD'S <anointed>: but, I pray thee, take thou now the spear that
[is] at his bolster, and the cruse of water, and let us go.
1SA 26:16 This thing [is] not good that thou hast done. [As] the LORD liveth,
ye [are] worthy to die, because ye have not kept your master, the
LORD'S <anointed>. And now see where the king's spear [is], and the
cruse of water that [was] at his bolster.
1SA 26:23 The LORD render to every man his righteousness and his faithfulness:
for the LORD delivered thee into [my] hand to day, but I would not
stretch forth mine hand against the LORD'S <anointed>.
2SA 1:14 And David said unto him, How wast thou not afraid to stretch forth
thine hand to destroy the LORD'S <anointed>?
2SA 1:16 And David said unto him, Thy blood [be] upon thy head; for thy mouth
hath testified against thee, saying, I have slain the LORD'S
<anointed>.
2SA 1:21 Ye mountains of Gilboa, [let there be] no dew, neither [let there be]
rain, upon you, nor fields of offerings: for there the shield of the
mighty is vilely cast away, the shield of Saul, [as though he had]
not [been] <anointed> with oil.
2SA 19:21 But Abishai the son of Zeruiah answered and said, Shall not Shimei be
put to death for this, because he cursed the LORD'S <anointed>?
2SA 22:51 [He is] the tower of salvation for his king: and sheweth mercy to his
<anointed>, unto David, and to his seed for evermore.
2SA 23:1 Now these [be] the last words of David. david the son of Jesse said,
and the man [who was] raised up on high, the <anointed> of the God of
Jacob, and the sweet psalmist of Israel, said,
1CH 16:22 [Saying], Touch not mine <anointed>, and do my prophets no harm.
2CH 6:42 O LORD God, turn not away the face of thine <anointed>: remember the
mercies of David thy servant.
PSA 2:2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel
together, against the LORD, and against his <anointed>, [saying],
PSA 18:50 Great deliverance giveth he to his king; and sheweth mercy to his

<anointed>.

for mine <anointed>.
ISA 45:1 Thus saith the LORD to his <anointed>, to Cyrus, whose right hand I
have holden, to subdue nations before him; and I will loose the loins
of kings, to open before him the two leaved gates; and the gates
shall not be shut;
LAM 4:20 The breath of our nostrils, the <anointed> of the LORD, was taken in
their pits, of whom we said, Under his shadow we shall live among the
heathen.
DNL 9:25 Know therefore and understand, [that] from the going forth of the
commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the <Messiah> the
Prince [shall be] seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the
street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.
DNL 9:26 And after threescore and two weeks shall <Messiah> be cut off, but
not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall
destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof [shall be]
with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
HAB 3:13 Thou wentest forth for the salvation of thy people, [even] for
salvation with thine <anointed>; thou woundedst the head out of the
house of the wicked, by discovering the foundation unto the neck.
selah.

Thankyou all, this is very helpful. I was aware of the excessive amount of Law and Prophecy that predicted The Anointed One. I was debatiing with someone in the forum that the Jews never believed that there would be a Messiah who would claim to have eqaulity with God. And since, I've been looking for such Old Testament verses. I know he had the very nature of God, but humbled himself and made himself to be nothing (Phillipians 2).

I still apreciate any more info. you can give me. I will paste those links onto a Microsoft word document and save it.

It is true the divinity of the Messiah is debatable in Judaism. However, Judaism has never accepted the idea that the Messiah was equal with G-d. The Jews have historically interpretted the Messiah as a servant of G-d.

However, keep in mind, the "Jewish opinion" is just that... an opinion. You read the scriptures for yourself and draw your own conclusions.

Shalom!

That verse you quoted from Isaiah 9 is traditionally seen to be speaking of Hezekiah. The LXX version of that also mixes up the tences etc from the original Hebrew version found in the Masoretic text. Whats in a name you ask? Well quite alot, Hezekiah is the only man in the bible whos name means "almighty G-d", and strangely enough he was a messiah (king) and the government was on his shoulders, oh and he brought PEACE to Eretz Yisrael as well as being a benevolent leader and right in his ways with HaShem.

One thing that is never debatable within Judaism is what Messiah ben David will do and who he will be. The word messiah is used very often in the hebrew scriptures, but only as "a messiah" and to reference countless people who had been anointed. I think its important to note that Yeshua hasnt fulfilled the primary prophesis as of yet, he will of cource when he returns, but instead of fullfilling them right away he came to try and increase Torah observance among the people preparing them for that time.

And yes Jewish opinion is just an opinion, the Jewish view is the messiah never was or will be a diety, otherwise youve broken the first two and most important commandments. Its idolitary for the Jewish people, hence why Moshe in Dueteronomy made sure to outline that if in generations to come, people start worshipping other gods, or change the way HaShem has eternally wished to be worshipped. If it is different from the way the ancestors at Sinai worshipped HaShem and if he is different, then it is false and not sent from him. This is later mirrored by Jeremiah.

But of cource, it was never Yeshua's intention to have people worship him, he was humble and knew that all the glory was G-ds. Yet he was and is the moshiach, and will some day come and fulfill the prophesis the Jews wait for. Or at least, thats my opinion on it.

Like Yafet said you should read scriptures for yourself and draw your own conclusions :)

And yes Jewish opinion is just an opinion, the Jewish view is the messiah never was or will be a diety,

I'm not so sure about that statement....

In the opinion of the jews who testified and wrote the New Testament, Yeshua was G-d. Even the Pharisees and Scribes who were not Mashiach-aware used the term "Son of G-d" to mean one who was of a divine nature. The modern (orthodox jewish) interpretation that the Messiah is not deity is a reaction to christian teaching and does not necessarily reflect the opinions of this station or it's sponsors. ;)

Jacob wresteled with a man. He looked upon the Angel of the Lord and said (paraphrasing) that he would surely die because he had seen the face of G-d. Same with Menoah, Daniel, Moses, Nebuchanezzar, and Abraham. They all saw the visage of a man and called it "G-d"

But of cource, it was never Yeshua's intention to have people worship him, he was humble and knew that all the glory was G-ds
.

This doesn't seem to jibe with scripture either. I can think of a few examples without research where Yeshua not only allowed Himself to be worshipped but encouraged it.

2 lepers out of 10, a blind man or two, Mary, etc.etc.etc....

Philippians 2

Imitating Christ's Humility

1If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. 3Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. 4Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.
5Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:
6Who, being in very nature[1] God,
did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,
7but made himself nothing,
taking the very nature[2] of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
8And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
and became obedient to death--
even death on a cross!
9Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

From this and other New Testament teachings it seems clear to me that The Anointed One is eqaul to God the Father, but submits like a son should submit.

Do MJ's believe in the concept of the trinity, where God is one, but has three personalities Father, Son, and Spirit? Just like H2O is water, steam, and ice?

Well as far as the Hebrew word for G-D which is El or Elohim also a few others...the one used in Isaiah 9:6 is attributed to a man. Also the Word Elohim is attributed to mortal men in Psalms and the Messiah also quoted it.

G-D/ Elohim only means judge (deemed by The Supreme himself). There is a great difference between ALMIGHTY Judge and Mighty Judge. This shows that one is second to the other.
As in the messiah is the second of HaShem G-D.
as in divine ranking- the messiah is second to G-D
the third would be the Spirit of G-d which is the spirit of the Messiah- so in reality there are only two ranks.

So the rank is Almighty G-D ( El Shaddai)
then it is Might G-D ( El Gibbor)

one needs to learn the Hebrew to have a foundational understanding of what scripture means. And I am not saying this to fight anyone- I am saying this in pure honesty.

and as far as the quote from Phillipians- that is Judaisms teaching about the messiah.

The Messiah is the LIGHT of the nothing, and the nothing is G-D while the light is the Something of G-D.
so now you can understand "the image of the invisible G-D".

The Father is the nothing is which everything was created.
The first creation of "The NOTHING"- was the Something who is the Messiah- an the Messiah is the one who is the fullness of G-d in visible form but the Messiah himself does not consider himself equal to his creator. And the Messiah helped G-D create the world and all the universe.

However, this is what Judaism believes, just sharing it.

Shalom u'bracha

I would have to agree with Hix and sojeru here. I believe that neither the Jews in the Tanach nor the Jews today were/are expecting their Meshiach to be G-d incarnate. I don't believe one will find any support out of the Tanach for the expectancy of a G-d incarnate Meshiah. Now what that was indwelt by the fullness of G-d's spirit (mindset, character, attitude, etc.) yes. So indeed Meshiach would be the visible reflection and perfect representation of G-d but not G-d Himself.

If I were to fill someone with my mindset 100% and that person journeyed over to Asia. Those people would being seeing me in everyway but literally. That rep. could indeed state that if you have seen him then you have seen Jay but not in a literal sense.

And I would have to agree with the Words of HaShem over you Yod, Moshe specifically told the people that HaShem would not change nor the worshipping of him, if someone came along and tried to convince otherwise then he is false. This is echoed by Jeremiah.

Yeshua was simply saying HaShem was before Abraham, I am is part of his name, the tetragramaton.

Worshipping any other than HaShem, be they man or item in heaven or below is Idolitary and clearly breaks the most important commandments of Judaism. Im not saying HaShem could not become human, I am saying he WOULD NOT become human. I think you need to learn exactly what Yeshua's role and purpose was and will be.

Not true according to the Gospels. We can find some instances where Yeshua accepted worship. So, if you accept the Gospels as inspired, then there is only one solution: Yeshua is HaShem incarnated. Otherwise, it would have been the greatest of all sins to accept worship. Unless of course you don't accept the Gospels as inspired and inerrant. In that case, it's a matter of faith and it's beyond any debate.

On the contrary, its all a matter of interperation chaver. Not to forget that to interperate passages correctly you have to read them taking into account the trend of the Tanakh as well. Becomming a man and trying to get people to worship him is not something HaShem would do for the sheer fact her forbade it ETERNALLY, to say otherwise is saying that The Torah and Tanakh is not inspired. This is a consistent message within the Tanakh. I do not believe Yeshua contradicts this, infact he himself came to write the Torah in our hearts, lo?

So theres only two possibilities, the statements made in the eternal Tanack by the eternal HaShem have changed, and now HaShem sees fit to become a human to try and somehow lure the Jews into what they had been taught to be Idolitary. OR Neither the Brit Hadasha nor the Tanack contradicts each other and Yeshua HaMoshiach prayed and worshipped HaShem (which he did).

Its all down to interperation, I just hope that my opinion does not upset my chaverim and achoti's on this forum,

and I have to agree with the Bible over these dear brothers.

Why was it considered blasphemy when Yeshua said, "Before Abraham was, I AM"

????

Do understand brother that such statements are moot. Either side of the party can charge the other by saying "I side with the bible over you", "I'm right, your wrong.", "I only go by what scriptures say and not man", the list goes on. It is obvious that we on this side of the argument believe as well that we are agreeing with the Scriptures thus this debate.

i didnt say he said he would never become human, he did however say he would never change and the Jewish people were not to worship any other G-d than HaShem, in any other way than was set before them at Sinai, this can be found in Dueteronomy 28. He says that if in generations to come the generations worship someone else from their ancestors, or someone comes in his name, then he is false and it is idolitary. This is repeated in Jeremiah 28:8-9

And of cource HaShem does not change his mind, as is said "God is not a man that He should lie, nor a mortal that He should change His mind. (Numbers 23:19)" and also "And also the Eternal One of Israel will not lie nor change His mind; for he is not a man, that He should change His mind. (I Samuel 15:29)"

Yeshua however acknoleges he is not HaShem or anywere near as great ". . . because I go to the Father; for the Father is greater than I. (John 14:28)"

Its all down to interperation, I just hope that my opinion does not upset my chaverim and achoti's on this forum,
Shalom and G-d bless

This could be part of the problem since humans cannot appear like this.

Revelation 1:13 And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.
14 His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;

18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen;

alive for evermore?

How could he send HIS angel if he were just a human being?

Rev 22: 16 I Jesus, have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.

Really challenging indeed.
How does a human react to one like this? Confusing..
