  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

When I woke up this morning I found my toe has finally come through my hot pink bed sock. This lead me to think of a creative game.

101 uses for a sock: (with or without holes!)

1. Sock puppet
2. Stuff it & give to cat as playtoy
3. part of a door-snake
4. sew to chair as TV remote holder
5. A strainer - remember Mr. Bean strained his lettuce in one?!?!

Your turn.....

~sew several pairs together and make a hat :D
~stuff it with pouperie (I have no idea if I spelled that right, probably not, but I'm talking about the good smelly leaves and what not), and hide it in inconspicuous places to make ~your house, car, room, or whatever smell nice.

8. Stuff it with lavender, tie off the end and use for a neck massager. Can also be zapped in the microwave for a heated massage. Works best with really long socks. (I have one like this that was given as a gift.)
9. Find a safety pin and a jar of Vicks Vap-o-rub. Works great when you have a throat cold. Rub Vicks on your neck and use the sock and pin to keep the Vicks on your throat.

10. tie a knot in the middle and use it as a pull-toy with your dog

11. cut it into pieces and make pincushions

12. place a brick into it and use it as a self-defense mechanism

13. take a pair, stitch them together, and make a flute warmer out of them (always a good thing to have on those chilly November nights so your lips won't get stuck to the flute! :D)

A brick? ouch! Original, though.

I never would have thought of a flute warmer, but I will counter -

14. Cut five holes in the end of each and use them as almost gloves for the winter nights when the part of the house that the piano is in is down to 50 degrees because the price of heating oil went up by 75% ...

15. Fill several with cotton, linked end to end to look like a snake. Add plastic eyes on one end and put next to a door to keep the drafts down.

a balaclava, what's that? I assume it's nothing like baklava?

It's a sort of winter hat. Usually made of knitted yarn. It goes right down over your face and has holes for the eyes and sometimes for the mouth. It's the stereotypical bankrobber tuque (stocking cap for you Americans).

Anyway, to add to the list:

21. Use it for buffing your shoes after you polish them.
22. Wear it on your foot (surprised no one else put that one yet :))
