  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What tv shows did you watch?

There was the CBS lineup every Friday night: The Incredible Hulk, The Dukes of Hazard, Dallas.

Mostly: ESPN SportsCenter; NFL Films on ESPN; the NFL on NBC (I preferred NBC over CBS, mostly because I am a Cincinnati Bengals fan and NBC had the AFC package); Monday Night Football; NCAA baskteball on ESPN and other networks.

Wasn't there a show called Those Amazing Animals?

G.I. Joe and Transformers.

Can you tell that I watched a lot of ESPN?

What toys did you play with?

G.I. Joe and Transformers. Spent a lot of time and money collecting baseball cards.

Various board games. I was addicted to Axis & Allies.

What movies did you like?

Flash Gordon.

I did not watch many movies.

What music did you listen to? etc.

Billy Joel.

I did not listen to music much.

Favorte candy, etc.

Mountain Dew (liquid candy). Now or Later (not Now and Later).

My first gaming system was called Odyssey, or something like that. My dad, bought it for us kids, but he seemed to enjoy it just as much as we did. Then of course there was the classic pong game. Then we got the nintendo, played for hours in our garage with the neighbor kids, I miss that baseball game, Excitebike, Rygar, etc. Those games were a lot harder to play then the new ones are.

Are you referring to Baseball Stars? or possibly Bad News Bears?

The first one was the most fun! that and Tecmo Super Bowl. ahhh, memories

I'm also a product of the 90's, so I dont think it's technically old school though for some people it could be...I think...lol.

What tv shows did you watch?

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles-best Saturday morning show ever, Captain Planet, Inspector Gadget etc. 'Real' shows were I Love Lucy, the Munsters, the Genie show (I forget what it's called) shows that are now on Nick at Nite. oh and Lois and Clark.

I also used to watch the little detective rodents all the time, totally forgot what they're called, Rupert the bear was a great show, and Alvin and the Chipmunks, oh and Sailor Moon (ok so I watched a lot of tv lol)

What toys did you play with?

Barbies and Legos and crayons, I loved buying barbies so I could 'style' their hair, this of course was only if my younger sister wasn't willing for me to practice on her :p
Anything where I had to imagine and set up something was like the most fun time for me when I was little. I alternately set up reading clubs in my neighborhood and went through many series of lemonade stands; the stands never happened but I loved planning that and making signs for it and calling people do the booths with me. my idea of fun time and toys lol.

What movies did you like?

Didn't watch that many movies when I was a kid, but a couple that I remember vividly were The Lion King and The Little Princess-Aladdin was awesome too. I also remember the Angels in the Outfield with Danny Glover.

What music did you listen to? etc.

N'sync, the Backstreet Boys, the top 40 on the pop charts things like that. I notice someone said the Spice Girls...yep (even made a dance/workout verson to one of the songs ), oh Savage Garden and Amy Grant were big time favorites too.

Favorite candy, etc.

Hmm...anything. When I was little I loved the caramel squares, so good. And for some odd reason I hated Butterfingers.

Guess none of these are that old, though they're doing remakes of some of the cartoon shows that I used to watch which is kind of funny to me.

What tv shows did you watch?
What toys did you play with?
What movies did you like?
What music did you listen to? etc.
Favorte candy, etc.

What did you grow up on?

TV Shows:
Sunday nights, Disney;
Friday Nights, Star Trek TNG, movies...
Saturday Morning, Cartoons (Bugs and Tweety, I tried Dino-riders, but they only made like 3 shows, Transformers, GI Joe, TMNT... then when I got older, Doug, Rugrats...)
Also, I watched Sesame Street, Mr. Dressup and Mr Roger's neighborhood whenever I could.
Also, after 1st season of Fresh Prince, I was allowed to watch it. And we watched Full House, Cheers, and Family Matters.

Toys:
Transformers and lego were the biggest ones for me. I was always making up stories to go along with them. I think I had some of the original Star Wars toys that I played with too. I liked Yoda. And according to my Mom, I would talk to my stuffed animals too.

Music:
Actually, to be honest, I don't remember being all that into music, though my family sort of went from the 70's Rock and sing-alongs (like Sharon, Lois and Bram, because we moved around a lot, and we sang it while on the road) to Country music. I was actually more partial to the soft instrumental stuff, with the birds and waves and stuff.

Movies:
I think I memorized The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin, so I could say the whole movie myself, accents and everything. I liked the first TMNT, and the second was alright, but I thought the quality of the turtles went down as the movies kept progressing. I also really liked Star Wars (the original trilogy) and anything else sci-fi or fantasy that I could get my hands on. I sat through the original cartoon of the Lord of the Rings, when everyone else lost interest by the time they FINALLY left the Shire. I'm still that way.

Favorite Candy:
You know those ones where you dip the candy stick into the powder? I can't remember the name of it. I liked those ones. And I like the Caramilk chocolate bars, and the cherry chocolates in the Pot of Gold (which I had to fight my Dad and my Grandma for them...). And I also liked anything sour - the sour keys, the sour patch kids... and I started to develop a taste for rockets (soda candies that are like coins and come in a roll).

What tv shows did you watch?

Transformers (they're more than meets the eye, you know), Night Court, Who's the Boss?, Smurfs

What toys did you play with?

Transformers (I'm told they're robots in disguise), Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Ghostbusters (I even had Ecto 1, and the firehouse)

What movies did you like?

Star Wars (except Empire Strikes Back, and the part of Return of the Jedi where Luke is getting zapped by the Emperor; both gave me nightmares), Clue (though, that also gave me nightmares the first time I watched it), Ghostbusters, later on I liked The Hunt for Red October

What music did you listen to?

Beatles... almost exclusively. Also, Petra.

Favorite candy?

I was never big on candy. But I did like a Milky Way every now and then.

I do, however, remember Big League Chew, and I remember thinking it was the coolest thing in the world.

No, it was just titled Nintendo Baseball, I believe it was the first baseball game out for the Nintendo. But later we did play RBI baseball, and yes Baseball Stars. We loved that one, I believe it was the first game you could trade players, build your stats up, but I could be wrong. Tecmo Bowl, one of the best football games ever. Then there is of course Contra, up ,up ,down ,down, left ,right, left, right, B ,A, start.

You were probably better off without the tv, I know I don't watch near as much as I did.

We used to race sticks down the gutter after it rained, oh and bottle rockets, but that was a little more dangerous.
