  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I take a photography course at my school, where we use SLRs and develop/print our own pictures. It is a lot of fun, seeing the whole process from negative to full-sized print.

Does anyone else do their own photos?

Does anyone have any suggestions for techniques in taking and developing photos? (the crazier the better, lol)

Hmm, I could have taken the photography course, but it didn't count towards my UAI. That means that no matter how good I could have scored, it would not affect my chances of getting into uni. Ironically, it clashed with chemistry, as it was at the same time.

About developing, I know nothing; never handled a darkroom :(

thanks for the reply, somedude :)

Yeah, that is pretty ironic that chemistry clashed with photography. There's a lot going on in a darkroom that relates heavily to chemistry. Plus in both classes you're risking the chance of leaving smelling like strong chemicals :p

I took a course some time ago. But I'm 100% digital now. To be honest, I hated the classic darkroom process until I perfected prints and had them mounted and framed. I like the digital darkroom much better - I rely on Photoshop CS2 for basic image corrections, dodging and burning.

I also learned several different toning methods. That was fun. But long term exposure to some of those checmicals can do nasty things to you if you aren't careful. Make sure your darkroom is properly ventilated.

Yeah, "NEVER FORGET TO TURN ON THE FAN" - my photography teacher. Also, "USE THE TONGS!" lol

Processing is really aggrivating sometime, and yes, it's only truly rewarding when you get that perfect print. Dust, old chems., out of focus prints... makes you want to lose your mind at times! But it makes you appreciate the final product even more. :)
