  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

hey hey all,

my name is Beau.
little bit about myself.

im a pretrib fundementalist non denominational Christian.
long title and probably not needed, but its better to let anyone who reads this know where i stand or dont stand
i believe that the Jewish people are the people of God today and forever.
i also do not believe that the gentile church has replaced Israel.

i believe that Jesus came died rose and reigns.
i believe in the total sufficiency of Christs sacrifice for remission of all sins.
i believe that any good works we do are only filthy rags and for redemption no human effort is enough.

pretty straight forward IMO.

i look forward to meeting as many members as possible regardless of whatever your particular blend of Christianity is.
as we are all of one Spirit.
im pretty easy going generally and love a good debate.
cheers guys and good to meet you

You do not believe this passage?

Ephesians: 2. 14. For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; 15. Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; 16. And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby: 17. And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh. 18. For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.

Or this one?

Galatians: 3. 26. For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. 27. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. 29. And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Welcome

Hello, Beaub.

i dont believe for one second that Israel has been replaced.
do you adhere to replacement theology?

I presume you're familiar with Romans 11. You see here Paul talking about the Olive Tree. Now, clearly the Olive Tree wasn't replaced, but most of the branches were "broken off" and replaced by other branches from a Wild Olive Tree.

Paul says that the branches that were broken off were broken off because of unbelief in Christ, and were replaced by wild olive branches that believed in Christ. Wouldn't that make all of the branches on the Olive Tree believers in Christ? Paul says that the branches that were broken off because of unbelief could be grafted back on if they came to belief.

But, my question is, if all of the branches on the Olive Tree are believers in Christ; then the Olive Tree is now a Christian Olive Tree, isn't it? Regardless of the flesh heritage of the branches, the only thing they all have in common is belief in Christ.

So if all of the branches are Christians, isn't the Olive Tree supporting Christians now?

Neither do so-called "Replacement Theology" advocates. That is a derisive name given by people who don't understand the traditional Reformed view.

What is actually taught is that the Israel --consisting of believing Jews and believing non-Jews-- was ALWAYS the church. The Physical nation of Israel was merely it's visible form.

ok looks like i have to reply to 2 different members already!
nice start.

ok john first.
in the old testament the olive tree has always referred to Israel.
Jesus Christ is the fulfillment of God's plan for man.
we who live in the Church age have been grafted in as you have stated.
But Israel has not been replaced and never will be.
70 weeks have been set aside for Israel and time stopped at the end of the 69th week.
the time between the 69th and 70th week is the church age and once the Church has been removed then God will focus on Israel in the final week.
IE the 7 year Trib period.

Calvinist dark lord.
which reformed view are you speaking of?
1517?

Perhaps at another time. i'm spread a bit thin right now both on this board and my responsibilities here in the "meat space". i'm usually found on either the Presbyterian Forum, or the Reformed Forum on this site. There are quite a few of us who would be happy to answer whatever questions you have concerning that issue. Many on the Reformed Forum are Reformed or Particular Baptist.

What is actually taught is that the Israel --consisting of believing Jews and believing non-Jews-- was ALWAYS the church. The Physical nation of Israel was merely it's visible form.

Was Noah and his sons blessed with dominion over the earth?
Israel became Isreal at Bethel by Jacob after Abraham. So before Israel there existed people who walked in the favor of God.

Noah prophesied the Jews and Gentiles would become one together.
Genesis: 9. 24. And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him. 25. And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren. 26. And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant. 27. God shall enlarge Japheth, and he shall dwell in the tents of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.
Japheth was the Father of the Gentiles , and Shem the Hebrew.
So I suppose derisive is the proper word when so called replacement theology is used.
Personally I do not think anyone is trying to replace Israel, nor do I belive Christ will die again.
