That sounds great Debby:) Yeah, when my kids started school it was really important to my husband and I that I would be home for the kids after school so I found jobs that worked with that. So does that mean that you are going to go back to school too or do you already have the education necessary?

No I won't need to go back to school, I've got a 4 year degree, and here in FL all that's required to be a substitute is to take like an 8 (or maybe it's 16) hour class.

Did you have a person in your life who you consider your Christian mentor? If so, how have they inspired you?

My grandmother, she's always been a strong Christian woman....quietly strong, if that makes sense. Not screaming Bible verses at people all the time, but just in her actions & mannerisms, she's always got a devotional book or Bible setting around...I aspire to be as great a person as she is.

If you could go back in time, what era would you go to and why?

Probably back to the pioneer days....less of an emphasis on material things, even tho it would be a harder (physically) way of life, I think families were alot closer, the IDEA of family was better defined, morals were better....you get the idea!! ;)

What is your favorite inspirational quote - not from Scripture?

It's in my siggy...."If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it"

I also found another one the other day when I was reading my devotional that I really really like:

When all Thy mercies, O My God!
My rising soul surveys,
Transported with the view, I'm lost
In wonder, love, and praise.
~~ Joseph Addison (1672-1719)

So what is your view on submission?

My husband is the head of our household. God put us together for a reason, and he's got the final say in all of our decisions. Now, some people read into that by "Oh, she just sits idly by and keeps her mouth shut!" ummm...nope! :sorry: I DO make my feelings known about anything that we're discussing, and probably 95% of the time we come to a mutual decision...but when we can't come to an agreement, DH has the final say, and I trust his decision. There are times when I have to bite my tongue, but things always end up for the better....because trust me, when I DIDN'T bite my tongue, that's when things seemed to turn out worse/escalate....does that make sense??

Do you decorate your home for Christmas the day right after Thanksgiving?

I usually do, well at least Thanksgiving weekend! But since we just moved into our new house, I REALLY want to get the great room painted before I put up all the decorations. So hopefully we'll be painting this weekend (I suggested that to DH and I THINK he's warming up to the idea...), so maybe I'll just get all the decorations down from the attic and go through them and then the next weekend I can actually decorate.

I'm excited because this year we're getting a REAL tree! Ever since we've been together (9 Christmases so far) we've only had an artificial one...so I can't wait!!

What is your favorite Holiday tradition and why?

Since my parents live in KY, they come down for 2 weeks over Christmas/New Year's. One night while they're down, the 2 sides of our families all get together (my DH family and my parents) for dinner and a "Chinese present exchange"....it's alot of fun and best of all...NO STRESS!! ;)

Yes, that makes perfect sense and I would have to agree with you....Looks like we have the same view on submission.

What's your favorite meal (and is it something you fix yourself or do you go out to eat for it)?

BTW - recipes would be nice;)

edie

I really love my grandmother's meatballs and her onion casserole. Of course, no recipes (she wrote it down but it's mostly by feel & look & taste) but here's what I've got:

Meatballs
2 lb hamburger (I use hamburger/ground pork mix)
2/3 cup instant/quick rolled oats (oatmeal)
2 eggs
1 env. hamburger seasoning mix

pour enough HOT water to just cover the oats, stir...want them fairly thick as this takes place of bread/breadcrumbs

Mix meat, oats, eggs, and hamburger seasoning. Form into balls and brown in skillet with oil. Put balls in crockpot or oven-safe casserole dish. Mix a can of cream of mushroom soup with about 1/2 a can of milk or cream, pour over top of meatballs. Can also add a small can of mushrooms.

Cook in oven about an hour, until warm & bubbly. If in crockpot, cook on high until it's hot, then on low for 2 hours....doens't really matter how long.

I serve over white rice...:yum:

Onion Casserole
Large sweet onions (depends on how many people, I usually use 3 large to serve 4 people)
1 can cheese soup
bread crumbs
shredded cheddar cheese
milk

Cut onions into thick slices, bite sized. Saute in pan with butter until soft. I season with pepper. Take off heat, add the soup & enough milk to make it creamy. Add in some cheddar cheese if you want to make it even MORE cheesy!! Then add bread crumbs to thicken it up...enough to make it whatever consistency you like. Put mixture in oven-safe casserole, sprinkle more breadcrumbs on top. Bake in oven for about 45 min to an hour, until hot & bubbly....:yum:

(I'm making the onion one for one of my Thanksgiving dishes!!)

What is your favorite type of animal?? Why??

I confess....I'm a dog person! We researched dog types before we started trying to get pregnant & decided on a Boston Terrier. We bought Zoe (female), and she'll be 5 this February. She gives us unconditional love, she's my protector, and now Andie's protector (and sister)! And smart as a whip....can rough-house one minute and be all cuddly & lovey the next...ahhh, I love my little puppy!!
