Why? Those involved in the oil rig operations are the experts.

National security. Pretty good reason.

Who in the government is the expert in this field? The government would just subcontract the very same people who are the experts trying to fix it now.

BP doesn't have a monopoly of experts in deep sea drilling.

This is twisted logic. My reward is getting from point A to point B. Their reward is making money off of the oil. They are not doing it for me. They are doing it to make money. If there was no money in oil they would not be in the business.

And you don't make money and benefit by owning a car to get to and from work, and the store, and the bar, and to your girlfriends house to get some nookie?

Are you a republican?

No.

I have never said that government should do everything for everybody.

And no one on the right said the government shouldn't do anything for anyone.

This is a case of BP capitalizing the rewards and socializing the problems.

BP is going to pay out the nose for this. But the government ha a vested interest in keeping the gulf for turning into a sludge pool.

That the government wasn't involved from day one is an equal failure of Bush during Katrina.

BP caused the problem and should have the expertise to fix the problem.

This isn't a leaky faucet. And even with all the experts and some government assistance, they still can't plug a 2 foot hole in the earth a mile below the sea. That should tell you how hard this really is.

If not, they have no business drilling in the ocean.

We need the oil. And lefties have shut down a lot of oil exploration and recovery onshore.

Cant you see this? If big government has to come in and fix this problem, then why can't big government just come in and take over oil altogether?

Because government can't do government right.

Is that what you wold like? After all, these resourses belong to everybody on the planet. Your defense of BP has been noted.

Oh what, you got a little black book of people who don't what to burn the BP execs alive? Of people who even in the slightest condemn the response of the government? Of people that actually have an idea of what they're talking about?

Obama finally just told how to fix the problem, why didn't he just say this on day one, with the class and style only he could muster:
"Plug the ___hole."

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Barack Obama has privately expressed his frustration to senior government officials that the Gulf of Mexico oil spill has not been stopped and has made clear his feelings about it.
"Plug the damn hole," he has told them, according to aides.
Obama wants to "plug the damn hole" - Yahoo! News

He sure has a great make-up team, three or four days ago, Obama said he "would not rest" until this leak is stopped. He seems rested and relaxed the couple times I saw him on the news the last few days. I am sure he didn't lie.
