• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Hi. Does anyone find that they have offended anyone with things like having to clean any doorknobs they have touched and refusing to drink after people or eat from a dish if they have redipped? If they start helping to clean after a visit, (as I have to have everything cleaned in a very specific manner), I ask them not to. There's more, but keeping it short. Some things I do just annoy people. Do you tell others about the OCD or just sweat it out? Thanks, Melissa.

i tell those who are close and don't understand. i'm weird anyway. haha. :sorry:
Thank you for responding, Goldenviolet. I think that me not wanting to drink after others and eat after someone has taken the serving spoon and put their mouth on it to sample is not even part of the OCD. I don't understand why people get offended if I don't want to drink after them. It's unsanitary and I find it gross. Maybe it's wrong of me to feel this way, who knows. It must have offended people here even because my health shows only 32%. My son's video game has a health line % thing on it, kinda makes me feel like I'm playing a video game. Incidentally, I will drink after my kids and hubby, but no other outside family members. (Why would I, my father abused me and my mother was selfish). At least I'm not allowing the cycle to continue-I'm a good Mom, I think. I feel a bit better after letting it out.

I have OCD and am taking medicine. The OCD went away for a few years on the medicine and after I lowered the dosage and was under a lot of stress it came back the other day. I felt so horrible thinking I was offending people by it. I didn't tell the person about it. I'm afraid to tell people for fear of what they will think of me but they already figure somethings wrong and maybe think the worst. I don't know what they think actually but I don't get good reactions to it. It's a tough disorder to deal with. Makes me feel less than.

I'm sorry you experience this awful disorder, too.
