Window shopping for new cars always makes me sad.........

Thousands of automatic cars....... out of thousands searching specifically manual....... 15 are standard....... (Of those 15, 12 of them are Camaro)

:|

Seriously..... cars should only come in standard format..... if you cant drive it.... you shouldn't have a license......

Of course Im just bias.... but I had to learn on a standard transmission. I hated it, I swore I would never like it or be able to do it.

Now, its ALL I want to drive but NO..... civilians want to put their lives at the mercy of a machine built with inferior products to save a companies bottom line...

Oh sure..... your car may start on fire at random moments or the brakes me catch fire because you listened to the radio while making a left turn..... but at least the corporation saved 5 cents per car. :)

Driving manual..... my car doesn't do anything I don't allow it to. Regardless of busted/dirty/old sensors.

It just reminds me of the other reason besides the payments I dont want to make and makes me cling to the car I have been driving for the past 20 years...........

Real manual transmission. :(

Looks like when it DOES come time to buy a new car...... I will have to go new so I can take the MT option..... at this point I would get far too bored with an automatic.

Normal drivers....... I don't see how you can stand "driving" only needing one foot. :|

It's very different in South Africa. Here manual is by far and away the dominant one of the two, and if models do happen to be available in both manual and automatic then the automatic is more expensive.

Well, they are slightly more expensive here to have an auto, but its certainly not enough to detour people into learning MT

Yes, they are MUCH more fun to drive. I honestly like being one of very few (on average) that can drive an MT. It adds just one extra little level of security when the person needs to know how to get the car in first before they can steal it.

Also love that I can push start my car if it doesnt start in some cases where an auto is just dead.

It just bothers me that in the car world I drive a mac while just about the entire US drives a PC........ (normally I loathe apple anything) but because the masses choose auto..... MT is all but vanishing :(

what does it mean to stickie a thread?

When you get on this sub forum and the threads that are always at the top, no matter when the last person replied. (like the rules). those threads are "stuck" at the top of the forum.

When I say "sticky a thread", I mean that this thread should be stuck to the top of the forum. Because it is a thread that everyone can participate in. And everyone is going to keep coming back to it.
Know what I mean? If I create a post about how awesome Neptune is, I may get a few replies, but the thread is going to die. 2 days later it will be buried on the third+ page where it belongs.
But this thread needs to stay on the first page.

Well I gave Dell a shot. My computer died within 30 days. Getting a refund and I am just going to wait and see what Apple comes out with this year in the MacBook Pro line.

My current one has lasted 6+ years and it is still running strong. Only had to upgrade the RAM from 4-8.
I love the trackpad. While the XPS 13 was a great computer while it worked, the touch pads in Windows laptops are lacking. Barely useable when you are used to the trackpad on a Mac.

I never thought the trackpad would be the entire selling point of a computer, but for me it is. If the hardware is a bit less, but the trackpad is still great as it always has been, then it is worth the sacrifice. Not an Apple fanboy, was really hoping the Dell would work out (since it is supposed to be better).

I loathe apple.

My next computer will be self built.... you really do get more for your money that way and its really not THAT hard. The hardest part is compatibility.

I just wish I had known that before I shelled out a good chunk over 2k for this one.

Id have never thought myself to be one to build my own but its definitely the path I will take when Im done with this one.

In my experience though Dell has always been crap. HP has been good to me...... but I have heard reverse for some people. Either way next computer will be self built so..... my next choice will not be A,B or C. :D

I agree. If you are looking for a desktop, def build it yourself if you can. Even if you just buy the kits.

Well I gave it a shot because this specific model is supposed to be a top of the line competitor... but bad luck for me and I don't feel like dealing with the repairs. just going to wait for another apple

Okay I gotta comment on something. A member or two in my debate thread have spoken greatly of Christ's love and how we should feel it. I don't feel Christ's love that much. I believe in Jesus/God and all that, but I tend to take a logical approach to things. For example, since my family and I have a love/hate relationship, I consider it logical to not care about their salvation.

The closest I have seen to Christ's love is the compassion of others.

But I'm afraid my future debates will take a similar course of me having to be convinced of things philosophically/logically instead of just pointing to out-of-context Bible verses.

I'm willing to let my debate go because certain members have convinced me that the question was too narrow and narrowly-focused, to the point of being invalid.

The forum seems a bit surprised by my narcissism. I'm not. I have been that way forever.

But I was done with the discussion. So I thanked everyone, and went on my way.

Dell/Alienware, HP, etc., all of those big name computer manufacturers are mainly for non-tech savvy individuals that just want a computer for doing mundane tasks. Nowadays they include way too much unnecessary bloat-ware on their systems, some of which cannot be completely removed.
My next computer system that I get will most likely be from Digital Storm. They're not a huge company, but at least I know if I have problems, I won't be talking to some tech support newbie in India that would end up taking me on a long step-by-step scenic route through his/her diagnostics manual.

It's best to barely take any of their opinions seriously from my experience.

You get one or two good posts, but the rest are just angry insecure people looking to be right at whatever cost.

So that no feelings are hurt, I should mention it was more a rant against myself and my state of being than about the actual forums. To continue ranting....

I'm not feeling the greatest. I am going on like 36 hours no sleep and I know I won't be able to sleep again until tonight.

Just to reiterate. I build my own desktops. I buy laptops from manufacturers. I let them build them. According to my research, this specific model was supposed to be the. best. and it was a great computer, I just had misfortune I believe.

I'm a computer technician, all I need is something that works. Give me something that works, and I am my own tech support. I can handle all issues that are software related. The only time I need to contact the manufacturer is for when hardware components fail. Such was the case here.

No matter who you get your computer from, there will be a risk of hardware components failing. They all come from the place. Intel, synaptics, etc. I'm just tired of fooling with windows machines. I'm not going to pay a premium for technical support. Technical support should not cost anything because the machine should work.

I gave it a shot, but the awesomeness of the Apple trackpad is what I want. That is something I am willing to pay a premium for. ;)
I'll patiently wait to see if Apple releases a modernly specced MacBook Pro with an option to not get that useless gimmick. and I'll get that, and install a Windows Virtual machine, or bootcamp.

Well sadly for most people they don't realize the cost of being right is to be Toro.

Rightness is what I do. :D
