I queued this video to 42:57, where you see three lights, two green and one orange-ish in the middle. The lights appear to produce four beams at perfect 90 degree angles. I don't think this represents reality as it appears to the human eye. Anyone know how/why a camera produces this effect?

I see bright, point-like lights in exactly the same way with my own eyes, not through a camera nor any lenses. I don't wear glasses nor contact lenses.

You might be like me and astigmatism. It's where the lenses in your eyes are curved slightly out of the norm, for those who don't know.

I have 20/10 vision which is better than 20/20. No astigmatism.

The rays have various appearances and seems to depend on the brightness, source or possibly the color or spectrum, and distance. Most common I see are six rays that is 60 degrees in between.

Yup, but the rays I see are way shorter so it doesn't cause any problems. 8 rays with 45 degree angle in between is also common.

My vision is way "cleaner" than that picture though, no fuzzy portions, no semi-transparent "orbs"

That's astigmatism. You can have 20/10 vision and still have it. It's the same with me: I have no problems with my sight but lights, especially at night, are seen as starburst patterns.

As I've said, the rays I see are much shorter than the picture you showed me and the rays are fully symmetrical.

The rays I see are even much shorter than the picture labeled as "normal vision" and I see much less glare as well than the normal vision example in the picture below.

I also lack all the symptoms in all the articles I read about astigmatism. I really don't think I have it.
