Hi,
I want to share something that I believe had effect in terms of reducing the amount of intrusive thoughts I've had today:
Today for breakfast I had an organic salad (the Organic Girl Spinach / Arugula mix). I put shreds of nitrate-free turkey from the deli in it and topped it with just olive oil. I noticed afterward that I seemed to have intrusive thoughts less often, and that they seemed to be more manageable. Normally, I start the day with eggs (because it is a protein and not sugary). However, I think my brain may be needing something I am getting from the salad mixture, as my brain felt more quiet after eating it. This evening (I wasn't planning on having the same thing for dinner as I had for breakfast.) However, the lady I am staying with made something for dinner and forgot my food allergy issue when making it. So, I had the same organic salad / turkey / olive oil mixture. The second time I ate it my brain felt calmed.
*Please do not misunderstand: I did still struggle with irritating and at times difficult OCD and themes, making it hard to do some basic things today. However, it was better to have less frequent intrusive thoughts slamming at me. It also seemed like I was better able to distinguish certain intrusive thoughts as OCD, and treat them that way. However, there are still some thoughts that occurred today that I still am not sure if they are obsessions and compulsions. I also caved into doing what I feel compelled to in response to some of those thoughts.
Just want to share helpful stuff as I encounter it. Maybe eating more organic greens may help relieve the mind some. I remember eating avocado one time and getting a mentally relaxed feeling after it. Unfortunately, it looks like I have developed an allergy to it because now I get short of breath right after I eat it. But maybe these instances of feeling more mentally relaxed after eating salad and avocado are pointing to something in my diet I need to be getting more of. I don't like the idea of starting off my day with a cold salad and turkey first thing in the morning, but it's better than nothing, and it may be what my brain needs for a better start and brain day.
*Also want to note, that I recently upped my intake of the EndoPlus supplement I am taking (that has 5htp & L-theanine in it) from 1 time a day to 2 times a day - morning and night. That could be helping too. Although, the effects after eating the salad combination were noticeable close after eating it. God also may be answering some prayers people have prayed on my behalf, upon seeing my posts on this forum. (Thank you by the way for praying.)
Hope this is helpful to someone.
God bless.
