• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

This is going to sound really insane, but here's what happened:

I was playing Pictionary with some friends and I was trying to guess what a teammate was drawing. It seemed pretty hard.

I was trying. But then a thought came into my mind that "I would give away my salvation to figure out the answer" (paraphrasing here).

I then answered "American Cup". It was right.

I was freaking out in my mind.

I prayed to God asking for his forgiveness and that I didn't mean it (well, at least after the fact).

Did I just trade in my salvation?

Let me be the first to say that NO hermit you did not lose your salvation, this is nothing more than another confusing OCD episode that seems so real and convincing but is nothing more than anxiety playing tricks on you.

Hermit you must learn to recognize the absolute ridiculous nature of these fears, they mean nothing in reality, but only in a OCD made up world. Anxiety and paranoia has created a stronghold in your mind over this issue (salvation) and it will not let go until you just ignore these thoughts. Do not ask for forgiveness for them and do not let them get to you, just let it pass.

Let the anxiety and worry pass, at first your anxiety will get worse in the first few minutes as you ignore the fear, but after a while the anxiety will slowly fade in intensity. You need to show and prove to yourself that the anxiety that is produced through these false fears will not hurt you and is only OCD going crazy.

Reject these thoughts and base your hope, salvation, eternal security and faith on the unchanging and trustworthy Word of God and believe in those promises over your irrational fear of rejection. God loves you and He is for you forever no matter what OCD may say.

Blessings.

The fact that you still are relying on God for forgiveness and reaching out to feel His love I think is proof that you have not lost it. Only by the power of the Holy Spirit can you have true faith in Him, and if you had lost your salvation then you would have lost the Spirit as well. In referring to the Holy Spirit, Ephesians 1:14 says "who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession--to the praise of his glory." Your salvation has been guaranteed.
