Hello everyone. I just started a blog about my OCD and my faith. Please check it out if you'd like to. My Love for Jesus and My Hate for OCD
The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.
If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.
If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

thank you for reading! i'm not sure if it can be found. i hope so. Being able to relate to other ocd sufferers helps me a ton! Thats why i wanted to writeI read your first post.
Do you know if your blog can be found from search engines? If so, someone might be looking for the answers you provide.
When I got intrusive thoughts, I was finally able to find an answer on the Internet from gotquestions.org
But I still deal with them to this day. 10 years later, and still battling with it...
But I believe that what I have was caused from taking anti-depressants when I didn't need them (I had a bad break up with an ex-boyfriend and had trouble getting over him. I lacked guidance from my mom; I had no idea I could talk to God about my problems and ask for help).
Obsessions and intrusive thoughts can last a long time! Have the thoughts been about the same topic all this time, or have they shifted themes? Have you been able to get therapy, or learn therapy strategies, for your intrusive thoughts?I read your first post.

They're usually Christian-related. They have varied over the 10 years. I mentioned it once to a doctor and was embarrassed about it; decided to never mention it again. I had tried a breathing exercise for a little bit, but I would forget to practice it, so I decided to forget about that.Obsessions and intrusive thoughts can last a long time! Yes, not everyone understands OCD. Even when looking for a therapist, it's important to find one who understands and knows how to treat OCD. ERP (exposure and response prevention) is considered to be one of the most effective therapies for OCD; I think ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy) is used sometimes as well. If you haven't already, I'd highly recommend looking into therapy, and/or educating yourself about therapy strategies and learning to apply them. I'm happy to recommend resources, if you'd like! I had been on Sertraline (an anti-depressant) about 2 years ago. I noticed it had hushed them down quite a bit. But I noticed I was overall slow in my thinking and actions, so I quit taking them. I've thought about going back on them, but haven't gone to a doctor about them.
Not a bad way to look at it. My OCD always gets in doubts about God's existence, Jesus being Messiah, etc. The way you've described not resisting the thoughts and that they really don't matter is quite helpfulHello everyone.
