• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi everyone, I'm new here on the forum. I was so glad to find this topic. It's been almost impossible to find anyone that is Christian AND understands what I'm going through. Ever since loosing my mother to cancer 3 years ago, I constantly think I'm going to die also. She was young at 58. Everyone said how she was to young. I know wonder if I look at myself the same...being young.
It's not that I worry about the actual dying part. Just like my mother I am a Christian and I know where I will go when I die. I just worry about leaving my kids behind. My mother worried about leaving me behind the same way.
Anyway, I constantly think I have some major disease, or I'm going to have a heart attack. It has taken over my life. My only comfort is when I reach out to God. I have to admit, experiencing this has made me closer than ever to God.
Sorry to go on and on...it's a habit :sigh:

I'm sorry about your mother, LovingtheLord, but just remember that you will see her again and then never lose her once you get to Heaven.

But about these fears about being sick, or dying the same way and not being there for your children, do not give into that fear, it is a lie from the enemy, you will not die the same way, when God wants to take you, He will.

If you're worried about heart disease being passed down, just ask God to take it out of you and let it not cause you to die. He created your body, so He can also heal you if you are sick and He can protect you from becoming sick.

Don't let fear control you, that's exactly what the enemy wants. Remember, the devil is the father of lies.

He's a wimp, he's a loser, he's a liar and a bully, so the only thing that he can do is try to deceive you into believing his lies, and if he can get you to do that, then he has power over you.

But if you look at it through God's eyes, you'll see that what the devil says is not true.

Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

I hope this helps. :)

Hi, hugs,

I just wanted to quickly say that no matter what we go through in life, God will be there with us. This helps me through every day as I'm sure it's helped you.

So no matter what happens, He'll be there.

God bless you,
tapero

HI Loving,
You may have developed health OCD thoughts of the Pure "O" kind. The reason I think that this is a possibility is that I've had this happen to me too. For years I could think of death without a care.. knowing I would be with the Lord when that happened. But when OCD rears it's ugly head, I get freaked out about all sorts of possible health problems. The obsessional thoughts about health can really take over your life. People with OCD health obsessions usually even know that the fears are over the top and irrational but that doesn't make them go away.. they get stuck in your brain.
I, of course, can't diagnose you with OCD for certain but I can suggest that you are likely on the right track in thinking this is OCD. I would talk to your GP about the obsessional nature of the thoughts and how debilitating they are to your life, robbing you of any peace, striking terror in you and causing you to ruminate endlessly about them. Your GP can suggest some meds. that can help but more importantly you would want to get in to see a good psychotherapist with who has experience in treating OCD with exposure/response therapy.
Take the time to browse around this forum and you will likely find some great advice.
God Bless, Mitzi
