Really? So all the talk about Obama working for the best interests of poor folks in his district is all made up lies?

So then I should vote for McCain because there is less evidence available that he is perhaps, maybe, somewhat corrupt himself?

OK. Let the comparison begin and continue over the next eight months. We should all be able to make an informed choice in November.

If people can ignore the whiteness, or lack thereof, of a candidate's skin and look only at the cleanness, or lack thereof, of his record, then maybe we can elect the best guy for the job of President.

Ya think?

Did I mention race? No.
Did I ask about poor folks in his district? No.

If you can't answer the question, at least don't accuse me of spreading lies and racism in the (non)response.

Barack Obama can be your inspiration now to be a better person.
Oh my. Were you one of the women who fainted in the audience?

I'm going to vote for Obama if he gets the nomination this year. He might not have much political experience, but he doesn't seem nearly as partisian and bitter as the other candidates. We need to be the United States again, and I think Obama is the best candidate for the job.

Wonderful to hear!

To everyone else, if someone trolls in this thread ask yourself: would a reply be productive? If the answer is no, might I suggest donating $1 each time you would have retaliated against the trolls. The best way to send them a message that their nonsense isn't working is to show them Obama's rising poll numbers as more of the country is made familiar with him.

don't let those who ARE partisan and bitter fool you- Barack Obama has extensive experience, even if it isn't the kind that you USUALLY see from a President (and the kind that has gotten us to the divided place we are)

Obama's work as a community organizer, civil rights attorney, Constitutional scholar, and state legislator all show key insights into how he views the world and how he would approach the Presidency- namely, working for fundamental change from the ground up, involving the American people, and working to get the nation behind an agenda that serves our common interests and the stake we have in each other as a society

And here's the latest on his total contributors to date.

I think reaching 2 million donors before election day in November is doing.

And the republican slime machine is doing their part to help out.

Thanks, guys!

the truly sad thing about this all is that if people TRULY believe that this man, who has [...] an extremely impressive record as a state legislator bringing reform to an entrenched political machine, [...]
I've got to ask what you're talking about. He was lock step with the democrats at every vote he bothered to come to.
What am I missing? Because I'm still here living with this ridiculous political machine. Maybe Lisa Madigan has managed to shake up the corruptness both sides have here in her own quest for power, but Obama did nothing to separate himself while he was here.

i think its high time to ignore the trolls in the thread... if people keep asking questions that have already been answered ad nauseum,
I'm quite certain my question hasn't been answered.

Please try.

you seem to be entirely certain of a great number of things that aren't borne out by facts or reality. you are not interested in an answer, but in spinning whatever facts may be presented in a negative light. if you truly are interested, you clearly have access to the internet. I suggest you look it up. Your comments on the matter make two things clear- you have looked up information (without any interest in finding the truth, but in confirming a bias) and you aren't interested in the facts- just the lies and spin.

The fact that you'd post so authoritatively on something you apparently know nothing about, and aren't interested in researching, is telling.

I live it. I know what's going on. And I know you've got nothing. It's ok, just say so.

What an obamination!! The sheer audacity!!
Not only does he support partial birth abortion and open borders, now he wants to disarm America:
Hussein has big plans for our military!

HAVE YOU PEOPLE SEEN THIS??
UNBELIEVABLE!! Just listen to his speech!!

Nut-case, liberal, big government, welfare-state socialist Hussein
Obama is out of his mind. With Muslim terrorist groups/countries wanting to destroy us now, along with our long standing enemies, (China/Russia/North Korea/Venezuela/etc.) we cannot afford to downsize our military. We must do just the opposite and increase military spending along with maintaining leadership in advanced and improved weapons!

Obama defends stance on Israel
Insists Israeli security 'sacrosanct'

In a US presidential debate on Tuesday between Democratic candidates Sen. Barak Obama and Sen. Hillary Clinton, Obama denounced the recent endorsement he received from former Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, and joined Clinton in expressing strong support for Israel.

Obama was already coming under closer scrutiny for the support he is getting from far-left elements that often harbor anti-Israel and anti-Semitic views and for selecting certain campaign advisers known to be pro-Palestinian. But he has been forced to start distancing himself from such support after Farrakhan, the former leader of the anti-Semitic black Muslim group who once called Judaism a "gutter religion," endorsed Obama on Sunday as the "best hope" for America to win back friends in the world.

In response, Obama insisted, "I have been very clear in my denunciations of Minister Farrakhan's anti-Semitic comments. I did not solicit this support."

"One of the reasons why so many of my supporters come from the Jewish community… is that I have been a stalwart friend of Israel and supported the special relationship we enjoy with it… They are among our most important allies and their security is sacrosanct," Obama continued.

However, in a closed briefing to members of the Cleveland Jewish community recently, Obama qualified his backing of the Jewish State by saying he considers that being “pro Israel" does not necessarily mean being "pro-Likud," reported The Jerusalem Post. He also suggested that the debate on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is much more vigorous within Israel itself, but that in America certain elements try to stifle debate on how to resolve the issue.

This latter charge raises concerns because of the recent book by Harvard professors Walt and Mearsheimer which makes the same basic accusation that the "Israel Lobby" stifles debate as part of its control over US foreign policy in the Middle East - an accusation that is considered by many in the American Jewish community to border on anti-Semitism.

I can't see any substantial difference between parties, looking at performance records without listening to the sales pitch.
It becomes a mosh pit of demographics and political tactics instead of well,... you know... a contest of,... how do you put it...:help:

At no point in the video did Obama say anything about disarming America or disarming the military. At no time did he say anything about downsizing the military or decreasing overall military spending.

How has wasteful spending in unproven weapons systems, nuclear weapons, or space weapons made us safer?

Nuclear weapons and missle defense systems are not particularly useful in the war on terror. They are useful for the pocket books of defense contractors.

Are you sure you linked to the right video?

Yet, his pal Deval Patrick has the same experience, shares many of the same views, heck, they even share speeches and staff, but take a look at what kind of an administration this turns out to be. Check out the Boston Globe if you're looking to see how a liberal paper views his record to date. Not very appealing so far. I don't expect much difference from Obama.

Play our own link again, and listen carefully.

I did listen carefully.

Fissile material is what they use in nuclear power plants to make the fission.

You know how that works, right?

Rush was talking about that earlier today. Pretty sad how such an "educated" man is so wrong huh?
