Obama doesn't salute the flag????

So why do people ie you Americans amongst us make such a big deal about your flag?

Why the saluting and reciting stuff to it, and putting your hands across your hearts when saluting it etc?

Please give me an answer I really want to get it, cos I dont at the moment

Yours is God Save the Queen

Thanks for the replies, the only thing I would say in response is that we dont put our hands over our hearts and recite stuff to our queen first thing in the morning before we start school.

Yes we would bow (well I would, if we ever met her) but this is as a mark of respect to her - she is a person, not an inanimate object.

With all due respect, we would not dip our flag to her.

We are not pledging to an inanimate object,

We are pledging to the republic for which it stands…..

One nation under God…..

With liberty and justice for all

(We don't cross our hearts for the flag, it's for the nation)

Did you read all the way through the snopes.com article? It says that there is ONE photo in which Obama is shown NOT standing with his hand over his heart, and that though the phot says it was "not saluting the flag," in fact, the event was not reciting the pledge, it was the playing of the national anthem.

Snopes also shows many clips and many images of Obama with his hand over his heart while reciting the pledge.

Exedus 23:1 "Do not spread false reports. Do not help a wicked man by being a malicious witness."

Well, back when America was founded....God was in the government. So when the Pledge of Allegiance was made, it was made by a government that was including God in it. Not that it matters much I suppose...even our own government and some people of this country want to get God and anything about unity out.

Looks like he does salute the flag in these video's don't you think? I think there are a lot of damaging rumors.

obama has been fighting this rumor a lot, it isn't true
