  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Obama at it again!!

liberties lost?> how about the governiment sayong what an employer can pay? how about the takeover of businesses and banks? how about the attempted take over of health care?

It's like watching as a bus is heading towards to group of kids. You see what is happening, you yell "the bus is hitting the kids!!!", but so many of the people will deny it until the kids are under the bus. Others refuse to even look, prefering to listen to the person denying that the bus is out of control and people are in danger.

It is like the people missing the signs pointing to Christ as the Messiah. Those who see and speak the truth are ridiculed. I pray the eyes and ears of the people are opened before it is to late. Of course, the Bible says that God will not strive with man forever. At some point, the end must come. Is this it? I think so.

yeah, plus the 911 Security acts, Patriot act...enable the government to put out surveillance on its citizens without court order, without a probable cause, to detain someone indefinitely without going through due process.

The upcoming national SecureID collects and compiles info that violates citizens' right of privacy.

And the fact that many executive orders have been put in place to suspend the constitution and disband congress in case of emergency is all the tyrants need.

Just like this guy who was recently arrested for stalking a woman. In the trunk of his car the police found all the tools needed for abduction: duck tapes, ropes, knife, large garbage bags... why would you need them unless you intent to use them.

Well, that I don't agree with... but its pretty unusual isn't it? I mean, its not happening every day to people suspected of littering is it? Don't get me wrong, i think every one is entitled to due process, but I do think theres a difference between a few exceptional cases and across the board suspension of Habeus orpus.

For example?

Again, stuff that you think COULD happen, not actually stuff that HAS happened

Not sure what this is refering to... are you saying the said laws and powers indicate some sort of major imposition of martial law?

They couldn't be just, you know... in case of emergencies, like they say they're for?

Does all this mean we should cease praying for Obama even if He is the trigger used by Satan to start the 3 1/2 year tribulation?

Also, the Bible says in the Book of Romans that we shouldn't speak evil of the authorities whom God pre-destines. For all authorites have their positions because of Sovereign God.

That specific text in the book of Romans wasn't intended for people who have the ability to semi-direct their publicly elected officials through focus groups, town meetings, etc. We are required to voice our views and IMHO we need to now more then ever. Obama's plan from what I've seen so far is terrible!

What a curious thing to say. Universal suffrage democracy was unknown when Paul wrote that, so how do you figure that he didn't mean it to apply to all governments?

(FYI, I'm in no way an Obama supporter, "callow" is practically custom made as a description for him, but I find it awfully curious when apparent goal post shifting like you've just done occurs, apparently to make it even more justifiable to say bad things about the guy)

In today's cyberspace world, I do feel it needs a base line of security especially with the events of underage sex, predators, terrorists, cyber theft By the way someone got my credit card off the internet and used it in Europe, we caught the charges but now they are on to the next guy.

Now when you shop don't you have cameras for the ones who want to steal, or cameras for those out there speeding.

Parking police give tickets for those not wanting to pay for parking.. I could go on and on.

Umm… Actually Obama Doesn’t Want to Take Over The Internet | Epicenter | Wired.com

And there’s nothing in it that merits the current outrage.
Most of the bill proposes ways to improve our cyber-security infrastructure.

In the event of an immediate threat to strategic national interests involving compromised Federal Government or United States critical infrastructure information system or network the president may declare a cybersecurity emergency; and may, if the President finds it necessary for the national defense and security, and in coordination with relevant industry sectors, direct the national response to the cyber threat and the timely restoration of the affected critical infrastructure information system or network.

chapter 13 of Romans, I just found it...
For the sake of time i'll just use the NASB for Romans 13:1-3, "1Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God.

Therefore whoever resists authority has opposed the ordinance of God; and they who have opposed will receive condemnation upon themselves. 3For rulers are not a cause of fear for good behavior, but for evil. Do you want to have no fear of authority? Do what is good and you will have praise from the same;"

I do believe we should voice our views, but we shouldn't rebel against the authority unless it comprimises our faith, beliefs, convinctions and religion. Which are all one in the same. But as far as I can see the trigger [Obama] hasn't been pulled yet. So... we should still pray for His soul regardless of the evil the Devil is about to release on us. We shouldn't hate the person, but rather the sin, and the devil.

I totally agree with you here. I've prayed for Obama myself. If he passes a law I don't agree with I would comply with the law but I would [wash my mouth][wash my mouth][wash my mouth][wash my mouth][wash my mouth], attempt to rile people up about it and everything I could within the law to see that it was changed.

There is obviously many things I don't agree with honnorthesabbath on, however, I am forced to agree with her that the road Obama is taking us on is most dangerous and we need to do everything we can to make sure they know we don't approve of it.

If I had the chance to speak with Obama I would obviously be honored to do so and extend great respect, then if I was given the chance I would ask him what the hell's wrong with his head. The people he has appointed to certain jobs would be comical if it wasn't so serious!

If Obama would have taken the hours he spent in that Church he attended and listened to Rush Limbaugh instead he wouldn't be making the kinds of mistakes he is now.

Rush Limbaugh-you have got to be kidding. How is listening to a drug addicted sexist/racist going to help the country? I'm sorry. You can come up with a better conservative than that. There are many intellegent, well versed conservatives without drug problems that may be able to pursuade more financial responsibility than Rush. Rush is offensive to me on every level.

the givernment isn't just propping up they are taking over. When they take over a business they take away the rights of the business owner. It is not a leap at all.

And if I take over a business by buying them out, guess what, I take away the rights of the previous owner also.

Like it or not, liberalism in todays politics equates to Socialism / Communism and Rush Limbaugh along with his "ilk" (of which I am proud to be a part) are against those evils.

Rush does not have a drug problem any more then Paul had a Christian problem subsequent to his name change.

Has the government taken over anyone's business without the business owner's free consent?

They did here...listen to this story. And it's not unique!

http://articles.mercola.com/sites/a...id-on-Familys-Home-and-Organic-Food-CoOp.aspxhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FdLxMKuxyr4

Steps have been taken to start legal action against the Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA) and the Lorain County Health Department for violating the constitutional rights of John and Jacqueline Stowers of LaGrange, Ohio.
The Stowers operate an organic food cooperative called Manna Storehouse. ODA and Lorain County Health Department agents forcefully raided their home and seized the family's personal food supply, cell phones and personal computers.
On the morning of December 1, 2008, law enforcement officers forcefully entered the Stowers' residence without first announcing they were police or stating the purpose of the visit. With guns drawn, they swiftly and immediately moved to the upstairs of the home, where ten children were in the middle of a home-schooling lesson. Officers then moved Jacqueline Stowers and her children to their living room, where they were held for more than six hours.
There has never been a complaint filed against Manna Storehouse or the Stowers related to the quality or healthfulness of the food distributed through the co-op.

Saith the LORD: though ye fight with the Chaldeans, ye shall not prosper.

America has been under systematic attacks for decades since the days of FDR, to repudiate the freedom and liberty she has enjoyed. It's not just Obama, it's the democrats, the republicans and 'the independent' (ie, Ron Paul).

“Single acts of tyranny may be ascribed to the accidental opinion of a day, but a series of oppressions, began at a distinguished period, and pursued unalterably through every change of ministers(administrations), too plainly proves a deliberate, systematic plan of reducing us to slavery." --- [FONT=&quot]Thomas Jefferson.

Remember the words of the prophet of Israel of old: declare Jerusalem an open city, let the Chaldeans come, fight them not. For this is the will of God.

DL--why would you include Ron Paul in your list? Just curious.
