If denied service, any customer could scream "Discrimination!" promoting federal investigation and indictment. [/FONT]

FRAUDS, FAKES AND PHONIES

First it was the phony “population time bomb.” By the year 2000, the planet wouldn’t be able to sustain itself, experts said.

Yikes! People can’t keep on procreating at the 1950s-70s rate, we were told! Americans should serve as an example to the rest of the world, by golly!

Of course, the only folks who took such hogwash seriously were feminists and self-styled intellectuals, mostly college-educated, who supposedly had better things to do with their time than wipe runny noses. Meanwhile, the “unenlightened” classes, the burgeoning illegal alien population, and Third Worlders continued merrily onward, building large families. Today, the U.S. and the free world barely manage (or not) to eke out replacement-level fertility rates. The college-educated knuckleheads who bought into snake-oil logic (and what few progeny they produced) today wring their hands over their biological time clocks, while showering their largesse upon fertility clinics, whose staff are laughing all the way to the bank.

Then we had a phony housing “crisis,” followed by a bubble that sent even tiny, two-bedroom, split-level homes soaring into the financial stratosphere. Investors loved it. This, of course, led to outcries about housing no longer being “affordable,” so our government, spearheaded by the likes of Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) and Senator Christopher Dodd (D-CT) goaded Phony Fannie Mae and Phony Freddie Mac into providing megabuck mortgages to down-and-outers who never saw a plasma screen they could buy on credit, much less a house. The trickle-down (or, maybe that should be “trickle-up”?) effect was that most of the population began buying better houses than they could afford, with the expectation that their “investments” would increase forever, allowing them to retire in luxury.

Bummer.

Meanwhile, we had phony science — “global warming,” which was later found to include more than a decade of cooling, but never mind. Just change the term to “climate change” and be done with it!

The phony alarmists managed to maintain credibility, thank to a whole generation of poorly-schooled young adults who were unable to see far enough through the fog of their own preconceived (or, rather, “indoctrinated&#8221 ideas to get riled up over misrepresented legislation like “Cap-and-Trade,” among other draconian transfer-of-wealth schemes. Dim bulbs like country singer Sheryl Crowe did her part by telling Americans to use just one square of toilet paper, as if that would save the planet, while a “C” student in science named “Al” won the Nobel Prize for pontification.
Today, nonstop giveaways and bailouts are foisted onto the populace by a predominantly socialist Congress with the United Nations as cheerleaders.
We also have a new crisis; a sudden epidemic of mental illnesses and phony brain disorders, landing nearly one-third of school children on medications they don’t need and can’t tolerate, and which are now suspected of producing some of the very violent behaviors they were purported to cure.

Or how about those phony “traffic safety” cameras, which most state and city officials now admit are aimed at raising revenue, not saving lives.
Not to be outdone on the absurdity circuit, this summer we were treated to the First Lady’s phony effort at thrift. She bought a knockoff on $6,000 designer purse for the meager sum of $875 when she could have afforded the real thing. In so doing, Mrs. Obama was hailed by the mainstream media for being a role model for frugality during the nation’s economic turndown.

Um, just out of curiosity, how many readers, even well-heeled readers, have paid $875.00 for a purse — and then had the temerity to call said purchase “affordable” or “thrifty”? Or how about sneakers, at $540.00 a pop? If you want a recipe for divorce, believe me this could be it!

The Washington Times’ “Culture etc.” column (see: column here), among many other news outlets, reported the brouhaha (presumably, with a “straight face&#8221, citing the First Lady’s commitment to frugality. “Mrs. [Michelle] Obama is often credited for her frugality because she mixes her designer duds with clothing from mass retailer…,” wrote columnist Amanda Carpenter.

The President’s wife even went so far as to volunteer at a food bank — wearing the $540.00 sneakers. As for the purse in question, the first lady apparently caught some flack for carrying what some thought was the nearly $6,000 bag, when it was revealed that it was “only” a really good knock-off for half the price. Which goes to show, most people can’t tell an $800 bag from a $6,000 one.

Now, all this isn’t to suggest that the American public do all its shopping at Wal-Mart or the bargain basement. It is to point out that “frugality” and “affordability” is in the eye of the beholder — and that such terms typically don’t run to the kind of money Mrs. Obama paid for her purse and sneakers. Nancy Reagan caught more than just flack when she purchased some much-needed new china—for the White House, not for herself. She didn’t take it with her, like the Clintons later swooped up various “trinkets.” Mrs. Reagan never pretended to be “frugal.” A former actress could well afford what she wanted.

The level of pretense among liberals — oh, let’s just call ’em like we see ’em: Stalinist-era elitists, with their dachas on the Black Sea — is beyond mere arrogance. Even here in snobbish Washington, DC, I do not see middle-class (or even upper middle-class) folks walking around in $600 shoes or carrying $800 purses. In fact, department stores and shops that once carried such goods (Garfinkles, Alcott & Andrews) have long since closed their doors, save for a few hold-outs dotted around that cater to the extremely wealthy (upwards of $200 million per year) and are usually nearly empty of customers.


No wonder Michelle Obama is at long last “proud” of her country. She can carry a nearly $875 designer knockoff get the media to call her “frugal.” If that’s frugal, then Camp David is “affordable housing.”

I actually thought that the articles were self-exclamatory and didn't need my comments, although I did make a comment before I posted the first OP.

I'm just trying to show how quickly those who so many put their trust in are UNTRUSTWORTHY!! And that the ONLY person we can put our WHOLE trust and faith in is Jesus the Christ!

Far too many put their faith in politicians and policies. They want entitlements and free government hand outs as if it is owed to them, while forgetting where that money comes from in the first place.

Obama is just carrying on where Bush and most of the other past administrations have left off. It is the desire of the power elite to turn this country into a third world economy.

I don't know if these evens are signaling the long awaited 'last days' or not, but this I do know. We should never sit back and accept tyranny EVER! If those who believe in freedom of heart, mind and soul didn't stand up over 2 hundred years ago against tyranny--would America even have been the great nation that it WAS?

First, I shan't watch the video, 'cos I'm at work and I can't download video at work. Could you give me a brief overview of the important points?

Second... here's my big issue. Yes, I accept there are a few current events that look superficially like they might be predicted in Revelation. But, and here's the big point, there have ALWAYS been a few current events that look like they're predicted in Revelation. Do you have any idea how many people, knowledgable, seemingly well meaning and sincere people, have been utterly convinced that they were living in the endtimes, based on what they thought were things the Bible predicted coming to pass? It is literally THOUSANDS. And every single one of them has been mistaken. Its a pretty impressive track record.

So I don't doubt your sincerity, but just stop and think for a second... what makes you any better at identifying Biblical prophecy come to pass than the thousands of very studious, utterly convinced preachers and Bible scholars of the past 2000 years?

I believe in the Second Comming, I really do. But because I'm something of a history student, and I know that there is a long and noble tradition of people misidentifying the Endtimes due to apparent Bible prophecies coming true, I'm afraid just saying "Obama wants to control people" isn't going to cut it. If you can show me something unambiguously Biblical coming to pass, then I promise I will sit up and take notice, but so far (not just from you, there's lots of people on this "Obama is the anti-Christ, they're going to start rounding up Christians and puting them in camps any day now" kick) I havn't seen anything that meets that criteria. So far, it all looks to me pretty much like people's imaginations getting carried away by their political views.

Also, for the record, let me state I'm a life long conservative, and I voted for McCain. I am in no way a fan of Obama, but that in itself is not sufficient reason to believe he's insidiously plotting the down fall of Western civilisation or that he is anything other than a fallible human politician.

So... them's me stipulations. I'm interested in what you have to say, but if you want me to take your concerns to heart, I'll need something pretty unequivocally Biblical. 'K?

To answer a few of your concerns, first let me say that trying to cover all the material in a 23 lecture series would be quite impossible. You are going to miss soooo much needful info if you don't watch these lectures for yourself.

But I'm sure you know that it has been satan's goal since his rebellion to have complete and total control over this earth and everyone who lives on it. And so therefore, he must then take over every NATION on this earth. America, who is the second beast of Rev. 13, ( the papacy being the first beast), must then by tyranny give up her Godly principles of freedom of conscience and all other freedoms granted to us --BY OUR CREATOR!

Obama is just one player in their theater. He is their puppet. You see, John Kennedy was trying to alert the American people as to what was going on in this country. He paid with his life.

As for the world events that have plagued this earth for centuries, yes you right. Many have all ages thought that their generation was the last one. But NEVER in all of earths history has there ever been a GLOBAL movement as we see now for total control by ONE POWER! This has never happened before.

Jesus likens the end time events like labor pains in child bearing. At first the pains are small and far apart, but they are cramps! Then those cramps begin to come harder and closer together. Hour after hour the waves of pain come--one building upon the other until the woman can scarcely get a moments peace between contractions. She becomes almost dilious with pain. So may scream or say nutty things because her pain is causing so much mental confusion.

THIS is how it is now! People are almost crazy anymore for fear of those things that they know--that they 'sense'are soon coming. I've had atheist cousins tell me that 'something is different now', or "I can sense something BAD is going to happen soon".

Yes--this earth is waxing old and is about to end. All the signs are pointing to it with RAPIDITY!

I note none of it actually seems to relate to any liberty or freedom that anyone has actually LOST though, it all seems to be stuff that COULD happen, nothing that actually HAS happened yet, am I right? If you can name a specific freedom or liberty you have actually LOST that would be very interesting.
