  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I went with 2 cups larger. I figured it's better to have it too big than too small. But 2 cups was pretty much perfect for me. Nothing's more uncomfortable than a too-tight bra when you're all full. I'd also never recommend an underwire. Well, I suppose some women like them but for me it was torture on the same level as the medieval iron maiden.

I went from a 34 C cup to a 36 DD. Also keep in a mind a good nursing bra will give you the most comfort and support. I started out just buying a couple at Target and by no time they were stretched out and were sagging. I always felt like I was not supported. I found the best bras at MiMi Maternity, Japanese Weekend, and Pea in a Pod. They were the most well made bras with the best support. Also just an FYI, don't get nursing bras with underwire, they hurt and will give you clogged ducts.

Have you been fitted for one? A good bra fitter will be able to give you some advice. Also if you are worried about fit after the birth, just don't take the tags off and if you have to send dh back he is just returning and asking for the same bra in maybe a slightly smaller or larger size.

I really can't remember what sizes I went for, with both of mine I stayed basically the same size after birth, but bear in mind I am DD cup already. I do think with ds I went up to E cup, but I don't think I did with dd.

As others have said don't wear underwire. I didn't think they made underwire maternity bras/nursing bras. It's not a good idea because you can get clogged ducts and possibly even lead to mastitis.

I didn't have to get anything bigger, though on oversupply days it is a pain and I have to remember to pump more often. I have the same size as I did before, as I had lost weight and the DD was a bit too big (by a cup size) before the baby was born. The only bra I was able to wear at the time was by VS.

We have no VS here, and I have to go to a specialty dessous (lingerie) shop out here just to find a DD bra... which is harrowing enough since I am a hard fit and I just hate bra shopping (it honestly sends me to tears as I am small in the chest size but large in the bust itself, and short in the shoulders, no one has what I can wear)... Bra shopping for me is 10x worse than shoe shopping for me. I love both shoes and bras, but I can't find anything to fit in all the stores in my area, and it takes hours and days and weeks of searching to finally see my need come to fruition (and I am not exaggerating).

I ordered two VS nursing bras (no underwire), and they have been wonderful. Since they are so expensive, I have waited to get more... and I definitely need more! It is too hot and humid here to just get by with two.

Bravado bras are stretchy and are for 2 cup sizes at a time. They have a Gorgeous version on their site too, for sale right now (http://www.bravadodesigns.com/page.asp?ID=613). In my experience it's better to pay for a good quality bra and only get 2 or 3, than to have several cheapy ones that don't support you. Medela makes good bras also. This is a good site to buy from: http://www.pumpstation.com/pumpstat...3019&mscssid=P2QKWL1S8CH09MWSXGR163MH7LSC5MNE

Those bravado bras and beautiful. I plan on ordering a few!

I couldn't use a nursing bra right after DS was born and after my milk came in it was impossible. I went up 4 cup sizes. My breasts hurt. So I used those tank tops made for working out - the ones with the 10% Spandex. Then moved to spaghetti strapped sports bra - using a 38 when I took a 34 normally so they weren't too tight.

In the end I ended up using Target nursing tanks until six months or so when my breasts finally calmed down. Before that I literally wanted to scream and rip the damn thing off me.

I did buy a nursing bra 1 cup size bigger than my size when pregnant and I just started using it last month.

I really feel for you, while I am able to find bras in my size (16DD) they are never all that pretty and provide good support at the same time. I usually just end up wearing sports bras simply because they fit neatly (without seeing seams under my clothes) and do the job. I would love to be able to just buy some pretty lacy little number though.

Hope you don't mind my asking... but I gotta know (as you can only rotate two nursing bras so much... :sorry:).

With the tanks, how do/did you keep the breast pads in place?
I have a heck-of-a-time keeping them in place in a regular bra, but it's next to impossible in a tank (they are form fitting), and I would love to just go in one of them because I have so much more air flow.... but I have a tendency to.. um.. leak if my DS gets upset or super hungry, and it will totally drench what I am wearing if the pads are not in place properly. :doh:It's so frustrating..

The 10% spandex and the sticky tape on the disposable nursing pads put together keep them in place. At home I folded a small pre-fold cloth diaper and put one over each breast because I leaked so much. They stayed put too.

Yeah for the first 4-5 months any baby crying would make me let down, even if it wasn't my baby.

I have this problem too. I can find bras which go up to a G (though there are fewer without an underwire and made for nursing:doh:) but once you get to an E cup the smallest back size it comes in is a 12 (US34), and I'm an 8 (US30). It's so hard to find a bra in the right size, but even if you do it's very expensive and usually doesn't give great support.

A lady in a bra shop showed me how to alter a bra so that the cup size stays the same but the back size decreases (yay! I am now able to wear an 8F ). On each side under your underarms there is usually a seam, This is where the backing of the bra meets the cup. It should be a straight, vertical seam. You should take this in, I think it's about half an inch per size. Don't touch the back of the bra where the clips are or the middle of the bra between the breasts because then you'll start to point outwards.

My bras are so huge accross the chest that I'm thinking of getting a normal bra with underwire just to wear out. A lot of nursing bras I try on...I can feel them damaging my breasts because of the lack of support.
