Nudity and Anatomy

I recall that in her biography Christian artist Joni Tada wrote about having to sketch nude models when she was studying art.

The remarkable thin is that Joni is paralyzed from the neck down with only very limited use of her arms and does all her art with a pencil or brush in her mouth.

First I have my Doctorate in Medicine from Vienna University of the sixties, second I had been teacher of Neurology/Psychiatry/Psychosomatics ina School of Nursing 1974 to 87 : You simply do not need nudes for a good professional training (maybe except for such as massages / physiotherapy.)
Now I am not at all prudish, with my Christian conviction I love Nudism on the beach - the Danube riverbanks - on hot summer days since 1960 and in the eighties together with my wife met a tough squad of the Nursing School girls there - they then somehow were astonished. But : Isnt there some back door startegy with now "needing" nudes in the anatomy lecture hall ? We are - also in Europe - far away from dealing honestly with nudity,
we mock about the Janet Jackson fuss - and have the same here with "Mausi" Lugner. Be nude - and honest. Be respectful to Creation.

probably more practical to use a live nude person instead of a cadavor, Live models are probably easier to find...... well except for the models needed in Proctology class, I bet they probably have a hard time finding models wanting to participate in that, maybe the anatomy classes need to use live nudes cuz the proctology classroom is already useing the cadavor? you never know. Its not like they would have a hole lot of cadavors lying around.

They'll see nude people during the course of their profession. They might as well get acquainted with live nude people now. Is prudishness really necessary for medical students?

Yes, I agree with this, they may as well become accustomed.

Once there was a time when using cadavers in anatomy was a capital offence.

No one bothers anymore today.

I think that I would prefer to get my physical from a doctor who has gotten used to seeing naked patients.

...personaly, i believe the human body is pure and beautiful. as long as nothing of perversion is going on, i don't see anything wrong with observing the nude figure. you shouldn't look at anatomy as something to be in disgust of.

but it really isn't necasary to have unneeded nudicy in a class, especially when it may cause offence to any of the students or faculty.

Almost all of the nurses and doctors I've spoken to have stated that using nudes isn't necessary to learn human anatomy; cadavers are sufficient. Furthermore, almost all them never saw a nude in their anatomy classes.

One nursing teacher told me that using nudes in the classroom was vulgar and unnessary.

Please, I only want INFORMATIVE and CONSTRUCTIVE replies.

If you're going to be a doctor, what happens if you have a patient with breast cancer? Or genital warts? Or a pregnant woman? You can't be uncomfortable looking at a human body as a doctor, that just doesn't work. As far as I'm concerned, they do should everything they can to desensitize you early and often so you don't get jitters while you're performing heart surgery or something. They should also desensitize you to blood, but that might be a little harder to do. Really gory surgical films might do the trick.

Anyway, it's simple. You can't use soldiers who are afraid to kill, and you can't use doctors who are afraid to work. They can't be nervous about what they're doing for them to be able to do their jobs effectively.

There is nothing vular in God creation, he said it was good in Genesis, there is a right and wrong context for nudity, as others have said God made all our body, he thought up all our parts including our sexual organs. I think some people, with good intentions, get carried away with nudity.
Yes we have to be careful, but nurses and doctors?
