You almost impressed me, until I realized you weren't playing it on an actual MSX2.

Is it much different than the NES game? I never owned it when I had an MSX, as I didn't feel like paying $50 or so just for the game.

hey Breetai yes its different than the NES version and better, the metal gear solid hd collection also has metal gear 2 solid snake MSX and in this version of the game they made solid snake and colonel campbell look like they do in the later metal gear games compared to the MSX version

I played that HD collection recently too..shame they did not have MGS Solid Snake on it from the PS1 one of the better games. I'm working my way through Peace walker at present.

you can get metal gear solid on the PSN unless you only have xbox live, by the way i hope you don't think I'm being a smart alect I'm not but its called metal gear solid not metal gear solid Snake, metal gear 2 msx is called solid Snake, good luck with Peace walker it can get repetitive trying to recruit enemy soldiers and to build your base and getting weapons and items, there are 2 endings to the game the true ending is the better ending

I never knew it was expensive. I think it was a budget title at its release. All I can guess is it wasn't produced in big numbers and system completists have driven up the cost, much like NCAA Basketball 2K3? on the GameCube.

Yeah, it seems to be around $20-40 everywhere, where Outrun 2 is in the $3-5 range.
