Read this entire thread , prayed/meditated to remove personal experiences out of the way. What interested this vessel is intelligence/knowledge vs knowledge of love.

Notion terms religion (view of God) as outdated and one see's (in this thread) an attempt at separation for some in terminology like male/female which makes the mind delve into knowledge where there is none; in truth. Most depend upon knowledge (my own surroundings in the U.S.A.) and are taught that education = put your own term here.

For me, knowledge negates faith, for then I claim to know the mind of God. Thus, as the OP delves into a new view of higher power a label is just that, a label/word.

Now the words turn into sentences that express an idea in a limited format because there is no empathic relationship between the OP author and self. Some of what is written may be in question tone yet it can not be expressed in this format, or not.

In my very limited understanding (see avatar) one thing is a constant. Spirit cares not for our religion, intelligence , standing with peers , loners. etc... If one labels themselves as atheist yet helps the poor and/or lifts people up the "truth" is in the actions, correct? The church is in the heart and if the heart desires outside to be their physical church who am I to judge it? It may even have an ironical label like ,atheists in love.

In closing, a little bit of knowledge of love given as a gift. Those that imitate , fear. Those that spread goodness because of "want too" are?

What do you think the Son of God was doing there on that cross?

Hi thesunisout,

What was the Son of God doing on that cross? He was praying, "My God, my God, why have you deserted me." (Mark 16:34)
God bless

It is not necessary to believe in God to be a good person.
In a way, the traditional notion of God is outdated.
One can be spiritual but not religious.
It is not necessary to go to church and give money – for many, nature can be a church.
Some of the best people in history did not believe in God, while some of the worst deeds were done in His name.
Pope Francis
What do you think?

WOW! I know that this kind of teaching is going around the last few years, many preachers in churches are afraid to preach the true Gospel, they are afraid that they will lose some of their church members. People don't want to hear that they cannot get to Heaven on their own merits, that this Jesus guy is the only way to get there! Well, I believe that there will be MANY GOOD people who think they are a shoo-in at Heaven's gate, but are sadly mistaken. No one will get into Heaven on their good deeds! It is not the good things that we do that counts, it is only the blood of Jesus that will gain you admittance. You have to put your faith and trust in the one who died for your sins. That is the only way.
The good news is that as long as you are on this side of ground level, you can still do that. Ask Jesus to be lord of you life and forgive your sins, and He will do it.

Dear thesunisout,

Why do I think Jesus said "My God, my God, why have you deserted me." (Mark 16:34)"?
Jesus was obviously in great pain and thought, perhaps, to be treated unfairly for having complied to God's order to proclaim the Kingdom of God "...for that is why I was sent." (Luke 4:43) By doing so Jesus surely was in conflict with the religious establishments of his days.
My best.
