  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Welcome to FTB!
When I'm 95, I want to say that I enjoyed life, had fun, met great people, lived Godly (or atleast tried. we all fall.), and was truly blessed by all of the wonderful things God brought into my life. heck I could die now a happy man. I've already experienced more beauty through my eyes, ears, and heart than most do in a lifetime. Seriously, I'm not sure why God thinks I'm deserving of all the beautiful things he's brought into my life.

If I find something too personal, I'll sidestep the question with a thoughtful witty response.

Sure. Happiness isn't about what you remember or forget. Being happy is a choice.

You bet. If you really love someone, it doesn't matter what happens to them. Anyone that has my heart will always have it.

Not sure. I'd try to find something positive out of it.

She'd have to be pretty amazing. I've got a feeling I won't be falling for anyone that would ever want me to leave the state of Texas much less the US.

Hmm. In the morning, after using the restroom, and in the evening.

Depends on who I'm calling.

I think commiting a crime without the fear of getting caught would take all the thrill out of it.

A couple hundred acres on the Llano river.

Not from the fear of rejection as much as knowing that they had their eye on someone else.

Not really, but I do like coming home to a clean house.

My Bible I suppose.

I'm completely sappy/romantic.

I reckon everything happens for a reason and nothing should be done over.

What exactly would you do with a Bible if you were kidnapped?

I don't think I thought that question through very good. If I was stranded on an island alone, my Bible would be nice to have, but if I was kidnapped, I'd want a .357 mag.

What part of Texas are you from?

Are you in college?

If you could rule the world for a day what would you do?

North of Houston.

Yes.

Arrange a trip for me to go to outer space. It would be cool to see the world from space. Or meet Alison Krauss. I like option two best.

Aren't you a bit young to be lonesome?

What are you majoring in?

I'm not sure I'm really all that lonesome actually. I've got memories of her that'll last a lifetime. It makes me smile.

Business Management, Finance, or Economics. Not sure which one yet.

5th grade. They kids are old enough to know how to behave, and I wouldn't have to put up with all the drama that middle school and high school kids get involved in. I guess I'd teach math or history.

A financial advising firm. Investments fascinate me. Making your money work for you is a key to creating wealth. Passive income is the ticket.

I'm country, but I could see myself being one of those hot shot city slicker professional types after college. The positives of being in the city is that you are close to work and you've got alot of entertainment options. The negatives of the city are crime rates, too many people, and the fast pace. The positives of the country include freedom to pee off your front porch, less people, less noise, friendly folks, and the simple life. The negatives include distance from work and the lack of entertainment venues (we get creative if you know what I mean).

I like bluegrass music.

I'm not afraid of anything. Maybe if I lived during the Old Testament times, I'd be afraid of God's wrath. Since Christ came around, that fear isn't applicable.

Uummm Not so much....

Matthew 10:28
And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Luke 1:50
And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation.

Luke 10:34-35
Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

Phillipians 2:12-13
Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

Hebrews 10:31
It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

I Peter 2:17
Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.

Revelation 14:6-7
And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.

Revelation 15:4
Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest.

I think that it is very clear even in the New Testament that we are to fear God and keep His commandments. :)

I believe the term fear in the verses you posted has a different meaning from what we normally associate fear as being. I believe that fearing God means that we should have a deep reverance for his power and humble ourselves to his might. In that sense of the word, I do fear God. I also believe that there is no sin so great that Christ's sacrifice isn't able to keep a Christian from God's wrath. My complete faith in Christ's sacrifice and knowing that our God is just, keep me from fearing his wrath. Plus I believe that the punishment we receive for our sins is completely just. If a just God is in control of everything, we have nothing to fear, because whatever punishment we face, it is just.

Again, that is incorrect. There is one sin for which there is no forgiveness....

Matthew 12:31-32
Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.

I do believe that fearing God also means to give him great respect for His power and His abilities. But, it also literally means to fear Him. He has the ability to completely destroy you. Yes, He is a just God, but that in itself is not enough reason to not fear. If you truly fear God, you are not going to go against Him. But if you do not fear... You will be more likely to go against Him and His punishment, while just, is not pretty.

We all go against God. Fearing God doesn't stop us from going against him (sinning). It's through his grace that in all of our wickedness, he promises us an eternal life of pure joy just for taking the free gift of salvation. Sure God could destroy me, the whole world, the whole universe if he wanted too, but I have a hard time "fearing" what is just.

That is true, we all sin. But, if we feared God in the way that we are supposed to it would make it a lot harder for us to sin. If you honestly don't fear God, perhaps your should hit your knees and the scripture a little harder. :)

I guess we have different views of God. I personally don't believe that God wants us to fear him the way you believe we should. I do fear one thing. Hell. I don't believe it is rational for me to fear hell, but the thought of eternal torture and seperation from a just God makes my guts turn. Let's put our differences aside now hun. We were obviously brought up differently with me being Lutheran and you being Baptist.
